Washington Oct 14 German government's answer to President Wilson arrived in official form via the Swiss legation. The note, in German with a translation, accepts Wilsons terms and calls for a mixed commission to arrange evacuation. Berlin declares the chancellor acts with broad German backing and aims for an armistice on terms aligned with earlier Wilson proposals.
In Washington on October 14 Senator New of Indiana declared that only unconditional surrender of the German army will meet American demands. Senator Thomas of Colorado introduced a resolution urging that no peace with Germany be considered without recognizing the self government rights of Slavonic and Polish peoples.

Private Paul D Mills aged about 26, previously of Barre Massachusetts, died of tuberculosis in a base hospital in France on September 20. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Charles E Mills and the sole child of his family. His father is with a theater company and his mother was in Barre when the telegram confirming his death arrived. He attended local schools in Barre and Spaulding High School before working in Lowell Massachusetts. He enlisted in the United States forces while employed in Massachusetts and later served with the Klark-Urban dramatic company on leave.
Four residents of Waterbury died amid a rising epidemic with a town uneasy over health fears. Names cited include Albert Ammold, Martin Ould, Mrs. Carl Nena well and Park Stratton. Mrs Broadwall is among those ill as mournful scenes unfold with frightened children in town. The general situation shows deaths and illness increasing despite efforts.
A New York report shows a large rise in subscriptions to the fourth Liberty loan. By 10 a.m. total subscriptions reached 049,240,450, up 81,946,300 since Sunday and surpassing the district’s quota.
