Waterbury Oct 7 a Central Vermont northbound train No 17 traveling at about 40 mph lost a driving wheel after an axle broke. The locomotive shed side rods and steam poured as the train crossed embankments and rocks. Engineer Timothy Holland and fireman A W Cutting were injured. the train stopped a mile east of the station and later moved to a siding. The wreck recalls a 1900 washout with four lives lost.
