Rev P M McKenna led the ceremony with Mrs Charles Smyth and organist Mrs Beatrice Papin assisting. The body lay in Elmwood vault before final burial in the Catholic cemetery on Beckley Street. Bearers were Paul Tiersney Joseph Hennes Maurice White and Edward Hamel.
Rutland, Nov. 10 Dr. Ray E. Smith of this city was informed he earned the Distinguished Service Cross for valor in World War I. He served as a captain in the meal corps attached to the 1st Infantry, 26th division. The medal will be awarded officially at a future date, the exact time and place to be announced.
