Basle dispatch reports President T. G. Masaryk of Czecho Slovakia plans to arrive in Prague in early December after a short stay, then proceed to the peace conference to represent his country and advise the American delegates on Slava related matters.
Mulhausen on November 18 saw a grand welcome for French forces. General Htachasér led the advance as crowds showered flowers and tobacco on the troops. The dean Rev. Botti fainted and died during the official ceremony at the city hall. The city telegram to Paris pledged strong attachment to the French government and loyalty to the prince.

New York November 14 Mayor Hylan extended hospitality to Marshal Foch inviting him to visit New York City. The mayor said New York owes him a debt for his part in democracy’s triumph and offered him the freedom of the city as a token of regard.
Berlin reports that electoral lists for Germany's constituent assembly are being prepared. A Basle dispatch to the Journal quotes advices indicating the elections will be held in February.
John A. MacLeod a well known Canadian newspaper man and for the past three years night editor at the Canadian press in New York died yesterday at his Brooklyn home His son is serving with the Canadian army in France

Miss Josephine Elsie Brown died in Montpelier after a five year illness. Born to David and Mrs Brown she was a Montpelier native and dressmaker who worked eight years in Burlington. Survived by mother two sisters Mrs Emerston of Providence and Carrie Brown of Montpelier. brothers William of Montpelier and Henry unknown. Funeral at St Augustine’s church Wednesday at 9.
Washington November 18 George S Jones of New Hampshire was sworn in as a Senate member today after Charles Pomerene of the committee on privilege and election moved to defer action pending investigation into alleged irregularities in the New Hampshire election of November 5. Pomerene then withdrew his motion, stating no desire to obstruct Moses seating, but urging committee affidavits be examined. The vote to seat Moses followed Minority Leader Lodge's input. Moses defeated Democrat John J Jameson by about 1,000 votes.
London reports the German Asiatic Bank at Pekin was dynamited by unknown assailants last week. An American investigation guard attempted to fight the blaze but lacking water, the fire could not be stopped and the bank is expected to be a total loss.
National War Work campaign extends in Vermont and nationwide due to late celebrations and flu outbreaks. Vermont aims for a 10 percent per capita reporting record, with Brattleboro raising its quota amid livestock and in-kind gifts. St Michael’s College and Norwich University double their quotas, totals reaching about 82,000 in cash. banks consider conditional subscriptions pending congressional bill.

Winston Salem Nov 18 Army troops restored order after a night of rioting as four people were killed and four injured during an attempted lynching of Russell High a Black man held in the city jail on charges of assaulting a farmer and his wife. Soldiers moved in early and guarded the prisoner to safety. The jail was crowded at daylight with disarmed rioters as the mob was dispersed. Victims named include Rachael Levi a girl shot from a window Robert Young a fireman killed while directing water from a hose Charles J White a construction foreman fatally wounded near the rioting scene and an unidentified Black man who died.
W. E. Haskins, longtime foreman at Smith Whitcomb and Cook Co. foundry, died at his Morse Building home at 2 a.m. after a two week illness. Born January 7, 1860 in Grafton New Hampshire, he moved to Barre February 1901 and joined the firm. Survived by wife Grace Trembley and sister Myra Drake of Tilton, N.H. Funeral set for Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Universalist church with Rev. I. B. Hing officiating. flowers omitted.
