Pittsburg faces a wave of violence with three murders, multiple robberies, and an attempted crucifixion reported in one day. Extra police have been appointed after a week of incidents while residents walk home using the street centers for safety.
Pittsburg Pennsylvania November 12 Henry Firth Pt 25 son of Joseph a wealthy business man was shot twice during a burglary at his father's East End residence. The burglar fired at least three rounds with Smith’s revolver, notes say silver plate valued highly was stolen, police and detectives search for clues as city reels from a recent crime wave and calls for more officers.
New York police arrested Mrs Ratella Brintol after she admitted starting a five story tenement blaze on West 19th Street to “see the people run.” The fire caused minor damage and one death is linked to related incendiary fires on the Upper West Side.
New York dispatch reports a disfigured young mulatto woman found murdered in a rear room at the Criterion in the Tenderloin. Coroner Dr. A T Weston cites purpling and hemorrhages from throat stabbing and beating as causes. Robbery suspected. clothes rifled, bloody knife present. A witness says the victim came from Washington with companions and stayed at the hotel Wednesday.

In Pittsburg Massachusetts on November 12 Fred Boucher aged 39 and his wife Agnes 24 were found dead in a room at Euphemie Richards lodging house 198 River Street. Medical examiner says death due to smoke suffocation after a room broken open revealed no other injuries.

School closed last Friday and teachers Misses Hanks and another have gone home for a three weeks vacation. Will A George of Weal ington is expected to lose part of his estate at Adelson soon. Fred W Edwards returned home after a three week visit. The community mourns the death of Alona F Doyle age about 14 years after a brief illness. The funeral was a large, prominent gathering.

O M Clark of East Montpelier was badly hurt Saturday afternoon when thrown from a two horse team near Averill mills on South Main street. He is recovering at the Brook Street home of Mrs Acitie Dixon after the mishap, with severe bruises but no lasting injuries. He does not plan to return home for six days.
A brief prayer service was held at the home on Main street for Guliln Wright who drowned in a well Friday. The body was taken to Morrisville for funeral services conducted by Rev. Smith of the Methodist church. Floral tributes from city residents included white variations and pink carnations from Dix and Coleman store among many others from numerous ladies and families.
Mrs Hetany Had, 92, died at home after bronchial pneumonia. She was born in 1832 and lived in Woodhary, later moving to a farm where she died. Funeral will be held Wednesday at one o clock.
Relatives and friends gathered at Mr and Mrs Bin Hathaway's home at No 14 Depot Square to mark their twenty anniversary of marriage. The evening featured social games and refreshments including ice cream and coffee. Mr and Mrs Hathaway wore proper attire as guests offered best wishes for many years of happiness.
Laura C Curtis of Montpelier died yesterday at her home in the Lawrence building after months of illness. Born in Cotchester in 1855 she married Dr Walter H Curtis and moved to Randolph before settling in Montpelier years ago where Dr Curtis opened a dental office.
The body of Fidward W. Webster, registered at the American house, was found in front of the home this morning after either jumping or falling from a third floor window. He was employed at the Winehensdan Steam laundry. No reason is known for self infliction.
