Crookhaven fishermen and skippers near the American steamer Nebraskan report sighting torpedoing of three small fishing boats on Tuesday evening. They later saw a steamer with an American flag pass, heard two loud reports, and then the Nebraskan error sounded for help as two patrol boats responded.
Liverpool May 28 The Nebraskan arrived after a torpedo strike. Captain Greene said no submarine was seen though the vessel showed huge Nebraskan letters. The forward section wrecked, water rose to the engine room, bulkhead saved the ship, two quartermasters injured, derricks blown away.
Liverpool May 28. The crew of the Armbrinen steamship Nettasan, damaged by an explosion off the coast of Ireland, reported seeing a torpedo wake yesterday evening. An aeronautic engineer believes a wake could be produced by a torpedo. Capdale Firemen say they heard a report of a torpedoing incident near the scene.

Admiral Sir Arthur Knyvet Wilson remains as adviser. Jackson, little known to the public, is regarded in the service as the cleverest man in the navy. He is a fellow of the Royal Naval College and is versed in modern naval science and hostilities at sea.
Washington May 28 The United States cruiser North Carolina ran aground within the outer harbor of Alexandria Egypt according to a report to the navy department from the commander Captain Joseph W. who says the ship was undamaged and that dredging operations will be required to release her.
Washington May 28 reports say half of 12 submarines in a fleet war game were partly ineffective. Secretary Daniels announced a thorough investigation to uncover causes and remedies for frequent underwater craft failures. He noted submarines remain experimental and stressed improving newer designs and battery reliability as bids for 66 submarines are rushed.
Portsmouth New Hampshire May 28 a development in the case of Mary A Burns accused of poisoning her husband Frank Burns at Nottingham December 22. William Blow a 20 year old Websterville quarryman died at City hospital two days after a fall at Consolidated Quarry Co. in Websterville. He struck his head after a 20 foot fall on the quarry trestle while likely pushing a carload of grout. His wife, parents and brothers survive. funeral at St. Sylvester's church Graniteville and burial in Barre.
A Rutland gathering of 16 physicians from Addison Rutland and Ren nington counties heard Dr Francis Rt Pane of Presbyterian Hospital New York stress early recognition and strict quarantine to halt infantile paralysis.
