A wireless dispatch from London reports the Royal Edward of the Canadien Northern Steamship Co struck a large iceberg one hundred ten miles east of Cape Race while en route from Montreal to Avonmouth. The captain said it hit end on in dense fog and the stern was twisted, yet damage is not believed serious.

William Arnold Whitney prominent Bakersfield resident dies of heart trouble while milking in his barn Saturday evening. His son Wilmer witnessed the collapse and summoned a doctor.
