A huge six man airship left Montauk Point New York this morning racing the seaplanes NC 1 and NC 3 NC 4 arrived at Halifax while C 5 sped above the Atlantic promising a hot contest in the air races between the craft and the NC series noted by observers in the early aviation coverage of the day.
Halifax reports the American naval seaplane NC-4 may depart Halifax for Trepassey Newfoundland tonight if engines prove reliable. NC-4 arrived from Chatham at 10:10 p.m. Halifax time, with NC-1 and NC-3 slated to join the start from Trepassey.
Lieutenant Washington, commander of A, plans a short stop at Halifax during the NC4 flight from Chitham Mars to Newfoundland. A wireless message intercepted by the navy department indicated the Baltimore cruiser arrived at Halifax minutes before this afternoon.
St John Newfound and Montauk Point report poor weather delaying Hawker and Raynham attempt on trans Atlantic run. Navy dirigible C-5, under Lt Commander Emery W. Coil, lifts from Montauk with 300 sailors, aiming toward St Johns Newfoundland then Azores, weather and route options under review.
Washington May 14 meteorological experts in Newfoundland say conditions along the Trepansey Bay to the Azores route remain unsatisfactory for the start of the NC-1 and NC trans Atlantic flight. Dispatches to the navy department report the weather as not suitable for takeoff today.

Washington May 14 Republicans from regular and progressive factions meet to set the Senate organization for the opening Monday. They agreed to postpone Act on Penrose Pennsylvania and Warren Wyoming chairmanship disputes and to settle routine items such as president pro tempore and committee on committees after organization.
State's Attorney B Powell of Ixland Pand said yesterday that foul play was not involved in the death of an unknown man found on a logging road near Brunswick on Sunday. An autopsy by Dr B H Stone of Burlington showed no foul play. Lumbermen viewed the body hoping to identify him, but no identity was established. The body was buried and the man's identity may never be known.
Paria May 14 The British delegation renews push for a wartime pooling agreement of former German merchant vessels and their distribution by tonnage loss rather than U S retention of ships interned in America before the war. Poland presents claims to German surrender ships to the council of foreign ministers this afternoon.
Paris reports a split between the German government and the assembly on peace terms. French papers note near unanimous anti peace zone sentiment among assembly members and warn a government crisis may loom. They also judge Philipp Scheidemann's appearance as resembling a condemned man awaiting punishment.
Paris May 14 The peace treaty with Austria would be handed to Austrian delegates by week’s end. Allied powers hope to have a representative at St Germain for negotiations. The composing states will include those who declared war on Austro-Hungary or broke relations.
Paris May 13 Colonel Bentley Mott formerly representative General Ning at Marshal Foch headquarters is named military attache at the American embassy in Paris succeeding Major Barclay W. H. Warburton of Jenkintown Pa who proceeds home to be demobilized.
Washington reports say US opposition derailed a British proposal to pool former German merchant ships. The plan, needing unanimous support in a remnant economic council, was not believed to be successful. The US holds about 504000 tons of German shipping, with 260000 lost to submarine warfare and likely to be settled in postwar claims.
The transport F. dh. Luckenbach with 2,300 officers and men of the 126th infantry, largely from Michigan, docked in Boston today. The Tolon, carrying 1,129 soldiers including the 121st machine gun battalion, would not reach the port before midnight.
London May 14 Serbians report Italian forces landing at Zara and Sebenico on the Dalmatian coast. Troops are moving eastward, pursuing retreating forces and fortifying mountain ridges and passes along the coast.
The annual Odd Fellows grand lodge sessions opened in Burlington with officers elected for the Patriarchs Militant department council. Canton Vinton of Barre won the Canton competition drill over Canton Lafayette Burlington and Canton Rutland, earning a silver cup after three wins to become permanent property. Individual drills crowned John Howell of Barre and Captain Tabor of Burlington as top finishers. The grand ball at the university gym drew about 225 couples, led by Col. George A Metcalf and Mrs Luther Miller, with the ceremony and decorations officiated by Col. Metcalf and staff.
Boston May 14 The McIntyre sisters Gladys and Irene Salvation Army members who served overseas with the Yankee division will be publicly honored in a military ceremony this Saturday in Boston. General Barnard Pawards hails their courage as both brave nurses and workers at the front lines, receiving divisional citations for their noble WWI service.
The 78th Division troops from New York state arrive in northern Pennsylvania aboard the steamship Pesaro from Marseilles. The contingent includes the 16th artillery brigade command group led by Brigadier General Clint Hearn and 8th Field Artillery, with units assigned to Camps Gordon Upton Sherman Jackson Taylor Devens and Grant. The Barre board of aldermen heard an informal proposal by Charles Zanleoni to add a third story to his North Main and Merchant streets building to convert it into a hotel with about 40 bedrooms a dining room parlor and office. The W McMillan Company has bought Mooi Abare and will raze the old circle plant shed to extend the new plant on Blackwell street. Thomas Abare will remain as foreman. The family plans to move to Barre with Mrs Frances Watkins.
Investigators in Barre Vermont expect rapid progress in the case surrounding the death of Mrs. Lucina F. Broadwell. State officials including Attorney General Frank C. Archibald and State’s Attorney Divis held a conference at Hotel Barre as witnesses were summoned and several suspects remained under surveillance. A mid May automobile connection is investigated, with a South Main Street dealer linked to the case and a Sav on car seen near the scene.
An elderly woman Delphine Dareia died after a lengthy illness at 1230 on Sunday. Relatives recall her long labor during wartime aiding soldiers and her St. Pio birthplace. Funeral details include services at St Monica’s and burial in Beckley Street cemetery with remaining family attending.
