Five robbers struck the Ga honna post office during a midnight safe robbery. Citizens and deputy sheriffs clashed. two deputies were wounded as the mob pursued the escapees. Five robbers fled with two wounded comrades, ammunition exhausted. Columbus, March 24.
Mexico City March 23 Finance Minister Limantour admitted the country faced a graver crisis than expected and said there were no definite plans to solve it. He said the government would continue its military program while reforms, including an electoral law revision, were under consideration. He noted two opposing public groups and expressed surprise at anti-government sentiment among some who backed reform.
Juarez Mexico March 23 troops of the federal garrison slowed renewed activity today due to the expected attack by inauberios. The town defended by 450 artillery men and 1 cavalry has been fortified with sandbags on house tops and non combatants are believed to be safe in case of bombardment.

Burlington announces the appointment of Riscell W. Taft as clerk of the city court to succeed Joseph T. Tus held the position. Taft, born May 4, 1878 in Hurt, is a Burlington lawyer educated at the University of Vermont 1908 and admitted to the bar in October 1890. The judge’s appointment takes effect April 1.
Three members of the special legislative run confer with President Charles S. Mellen and Vice President Timothy E. Byrnes of the Boston and Maine railroad. Taunton Massachusetts March 23 Taunton was visited by two serious fires affecting Coghlan Silver Company makers of silver plated ware with losses around 20,000 and 37,000 damage to the Taunton Gileloth works. Three workers were trapped and severely burned while fleeing flames. One man jumped from a window and all victims suffered bruises. The fires started in the lacquer drying department and quickly spread through the wood framed buildings. About fifty workers were present with most escaping before the threat grew. The blaze caused near total destruction of the structures and was believed caused by spontaneous combustion. The factory was two stories high and constructed of wood.
In Washington County Court the jury in an $85,000 accident suit by Onemme Moria vs JonesBroa, Barre, failed to agree after lengthy deliberations. Judge Miles sent them to retry, while a separate seduction case involving Clara Stone and Fred Chambers proceeded, with Chambers denying the charge. Next on the docket: Joseph Long & Co. vs City of Barre over a storage reservoir contract in Orange.

Henry Barber 67, lifelong Websterville resident and quarryman, died at home yesterday afternoon after a weeklong illness. Survived by brothers Liam Barber of Morrisville and Samuel in Canada, and a sister in Canada. Funeral will be at Epreconat church Websterville tomorrow at 2 PM with Rector Rev WJ M Beatty officiating.
Miss Elsie Will died from burns in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital and was brought to Barre to her companion George Mutch of 103 Washington Street. Funeral set for tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the home with interment at Hillcrest cemetery. She had been employed at Waverly Hospital and recently moved from Waverly Hospital to Massachusetts General.
Hon. 0. Risford, aged 81 years, died at his home after a short illness. Funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. He leaves one son and two daughters. He carried on his father’s business for 90 years beginning early in his career.
The contract to quarry and cut granite for the new post at South Main and Prospect streets was awarded to the Presbrey-Coykendall Co of this city. Mr Presbrey arrived from New York to arrange work as soon as stock is secured. The building calls for about 12,400 to 13,000 cubic feet of granite. Westchester Engineering Co of New York holds the government contract.
A five year agreement was signed by the Rockport workers last evening. It largely concedes most demands with experienced hands paid 25 cents per hour. Steam drillers and carbide operators expect higher rates. Old rates were 18 and 19 cents. Time and a half for overtime and double time for Sundays and holidays. Several smaller unions remain to be settled, but will join later.
Henry Weightman and Herbert White, Websterville men, were sentenced by Judge Scott to four to eighteen months in the house of correction for breach of the peace and assault on officers. They could not pay fines and chose jail terms. Nora Heryon pleaded guilty to breach of the peace and paid a fine. Daniel Lowe also pleaded guilty to intoxication, fined, and jailed for 20 days. Several similar charges were disposed of meanwhile as local businesses advertised sales of clothing and goods.
