A Reuters despatch from Tehran states Russian forces crossed into Ispahan on March 19, signaling a further southward push beyond prior reports. The old Persian capital lies about 200 miles southeast of Tehran and appears to be moving toward the Persian Gulf from the main Russian front.
Berlin dispatch reports 2,500 French troops captured by German forces northeast of Avocourt. The war office announced the seizure as part of ongoing fighting, with London sources tracing the report to Berlin.
Austrian forces on the Dueister river northwest of Uscieczko and near the Bukowina border were ordered to evacuate bridgehead fortifications and transports amid Russian pressure. London dispatch reports March 21 that the entente allies have assured Belgium she will be invited to participate in peace negotiations.
In Galveston a London firm reports progress toward peace and cancels charter agreements for several small steamers to move lumber. Negotiations were nearly closed when a cablegram redirected the deal. The source declined to name the involved firms, but circles in Galveston say the London firm remains sincere about peace.
Four British destroyers chased three German torpedo boats off the Belgian coast near Zeebrugge. In the brief engagement two German vessels were hit and four British sailors were wounded. The action ended quickly as the Germans fled toward their naval base.

A man, James Connor, 34, shot two women in a 129 St Botolph Street building, injuring Mrs. Beverly and Mrs. Rita Scott as a gunfight erupted with his wife Alice Connor and tenant Mrs. Janice Neverly. Police report he threatened more violence and set a fire. both women were hospitalized with abdomen wounds, one potentially fatal.
Lendon March 21 Sinn Fein rioters in Tullamore King's county Ireland opened fire on police last night. A police sergeant was seriously wounded and two inspectors lightly wounded in the attack.
Arthur Dusquette of Keene pleaded guilty in municipal court to forgery and was bound over to the April term of superior court in 700 dollars bonds after failing to furnish bail. The authorities allege three forged checks totaling 2576 dollars, including a June 24, 1918, draft on the People’s National Bank of Brattleboro cashed by Samuel Finkelstein for 85.75, a second Keene National Bank check for 12 dollars to W H Parker, and a third Keene National Bank check for 4 dollars to Forest Leach, all under dated March 8 and March 12 respectively.
William Jennings Bryan spoke in Netheaske in support of a state prohibition amendment and for his brother Mayor Gharkie W. Bryan of Lincoln who seeks the Democratic nomination for governor. A dispute arose during Bryan’s remarks with Mahar and Dtryam reported. details unclear.

El Paso March 21. Col Came forces fought Villa led troops at Namiquipa in Guerrero state yesterday afternoon. Dispatched report says the battle result was not decided, with Canto commanding 100 cavalry in contact with Villa forces two days earlier at Elyalle.
Mrs Marenda R Dodge aged 67 died at her daughter Mrs Adelin Templeton 235 Elm Street after a long decline. Born March 21 1810 in Braintree she traced to Hiram and Rebekah Bass as one of thirteen children. Survived by four children Mrs Mary R Ding Don H Dodge Howard Dodge and Mrs Templeton with three still living. Funeral Thursday at 2 PM from 235 Elm Street with Rev L H Benedict officiating.
Washington March 21 War department dispatches contain no reports of fighting between Carranza troops and a Villard. Pershing sent by Funston notes friendly contact between Carranza forces and civilians after the punitive expedition near Oxsas Grandes. No gatherings of Carranza troops or signs of unrest are mentioned.
A field army wire report says an Aero plane wrecked near Columbus left pilot Lieutenant T s Bae en injured but not fatally. The March 21 incident details a single aircraft mishap with non fatal injuries.
Burlington March 21 Vermont Anti Saloon League held its annual meeting with 55 trustees attending. Rev Clifford H Smith reported a great year with strong financial support and cooperation with temperance groups, yet noted a final crushing defeat. Bartley Roach, a 48 year old immigrant to America who worked seventeen years in the Metro granite district, died at 3:10 AM at 379 North Main Street. Survived by two sisters in Concord and Ireland, four brothers in Waterbury, Treldrahn, Montpelier, and Concord. Funeral arrangements pending relatives in Concord. Burial planned at St. Michael Cemetery, with services at St Augustine's Church.
