U. S. Troops Unchanged on Mexican Border

Washington March 12. No change in U S troops disposition along the Mexican border between El Paso and Nogales is likely after Brigadier General Bias reported to the War Department that patrols stay as close as necessary. Secretary Garrison had asked for a study to reduce border risk, but the general found troops performing difficult duty with great discretion and no Mexican observation near Douglas.

Brakeman James White Dies After Car Shift Accident

St Albans March 12 Central Vermont brakeman James F. White died at St Albans hospital after being injured while shifting cars yesterday. He was fatally pinched between the engine lifting pin and a freight platform while at work and died early this morning.

Hartland man arrested for break in at Central Vermont station

Herbert G. Warm, believed from Hart, was arrested in White River Junction on a charge of breaking and entering the Central Vermont station at North Hartland. The break occurred Saturday night with about 43 in change and fifty-three two-cent stamps taken from the railroad ticket office and post office. Warm, who reportedly served two years in Atlanta for previous breaks, admitted the offense and was committed to jail at Windsor on trial after waiving examination. Detective work led to the arrest, with Chief J. Ober and Deputy D. K. Daley coordinating the case.

Death of David McKnight Foreman and Stonecutter in Barre

David McKnight a longtime foreman at Harrison Granite Co. and known stonecutter died last evening at his home after a period of declining health. Born in Dalbeattie Scotland June 20 1869 he came to America 31 years ago and lived in Barre 24 years. He leaves a brother and three sisters in Scotland and was a member of Pythian lodge Clan Gordon and Manchester Unity Odd Fellows. Prayer services will be held at his home and remains will be sent to Belfast for burial beside his wife Mrs McKnight.
