In Derry on March 8 Elwand Ballou, 64, was fatally injured when a plank toppled and fell on him at a mill. Work halted as workers rushed to assist. Ballou died en route to hospital. Survived by a sister Mrs Mary Reavey and others of Wendle, the town.
