Isbon New Hampshire March 6 Roy I Metcalf of St Johnsbury Vermont reported wounded in France, joined Company D later Vermont regiment at St Johnsbury in June 1917. He was sent to Fort Th en Alen and Framingham, becoming a member of Company B Machine Gun unit. He is son of Mrs Mary E Metcalf of Larwell now with the family of Mrs Mary H Boynton of Tishon. He is 20, worked for Fairbanks Leale company at St Johnsbury at enlistment. He wrote that his command was raining hard and he might not be able to write for some time.
Brattleboro March 1 a telegram from Washington confirms Private Edward M. Baker of Company K, 106th Vermont Infantry, died in France on February 28. He was 18, the eldest of eight brothers, and had recently attended St Michael's College in Winooski. His death leaves grieving parents Michael and Bridget Maker and the Brattleboro community.
