Washington March 4 five Americans were killed and several wounded north of Toul and in other actions. Second Lieut Herold F Kadie of Tilton New Hampshire was killed March 1. Sergt Joseph P Chalsson of Derby Maine also died in January. Privates Harry M Nightingale Leonard Talbot and others listed as wounded. Kadie hailed from Dartmouth and Phillips Academy and was son of James Kadie of Tilton. He was 24 years old.

German alien Low arrested by deputy marshal in Barre
Carl Heinrich Lyn known as Low a German alien with a six year U.S. residence was arrested Saturday afternoon by Deputy U.S. Marshal George W. Lackey after a Washington D.C. warrant arrived. He was jailed in Washington county awaiting trial and may be interned. He lived at 28 Pearl Street and reported to Barre police headquarters when summoned. He had prior trouble with county officials during earlier registrations and fingerprints, then complied with the German alien registration in February.
