Explosion in a freight warehouse and passenger station of the Houston East and West Texas railroad at Lufkin injures nearby buildings and causes about 160000 dollars in damage. One railroad clerk is missing and is believed killed. Dynamite stored in the warehouse triggered the blast early March 3.
El Paso. In a border clash near Douglas Arizona US cavalry and Mexican soldiers fought early yesterday. Four Mexicans killed or wounded. four American officers fired upon by 400 Mexican troops. Americans reinforced and repelled Mexicans, causing alarm in Douglas as residents armed themselves along the boundary.
In Mexico City on March 3 a large crowd cheered General Felis Diaz at the bull ring after his appearance with matadors who aided the revolt victory. President Huerta and generals reviewed a parade honoring those linked to the uprising. A painting of a dead chieftain rode in the procession as factory workers released four doves bearing peace messages.
A woman faced forgery charges in county court, bail set at 300 dollars. She allegedly endorsed a check for 148 dollars and planned to mail it home from Stowe. Mrs Taft will preserve the autograph album from her White House years with notable visitors names recorded. President Taft will take away the chair he used during cabinet deliberations and his deck chair as they depart Washington with the autograph book and furniture.
Mrs. Maude Ruggles of Glens Falls NY arrives in Barre for several days with relatives then heads to Hoxton Scotland. John OConnell of Hardwick and Miss Hazel Coburn visit, with several others returning home after stays in Barre and nearby towns. Miss Pearl Gage leaves for home after a brief visit while other locals travel to Worcester and Milwaukee.
Washington March 3 William L Chambers of Washington former chief justice of the international court and a former member of the Spanish treaty claims commission was chosen as third arbitrator in the wage dispute between the eastern railroads and their firemen. W W Atterbury of the Pennsylvania Railroad and Albert Phillips of the firemen's organization are the other arbitrators.
Charles Ploof, 40, bound over to famous county court on a charge of writing a threatening letter. He was arrested in Burlington and held in the county jail. Harold C. McMahon planned to extort money with a dynamite threat. detectives traced the note to New York City. The penalty carries up to two years in prison or a fine of 500.
Rev A A Urstin of St Monica s church urged parishioners to vote no on liquor licensing at Tuesday polls. He warned of liquor interests influencing the city, recalled past harms, and stressed duty to God and community to keep the city dry. He cited mayoral figures and condemned saloon environments affecting families.
Boston March 3 Disturbances at the reopening of garment shops during a strike led to arrests as pickets tried to bar non union workers from entry. Hundreds demonstrated on the lines with both sides using force. police restored order. Seven women and five others were arrested for assault and attempting to free a prisoner amid the clashes.
In New York on March, most LOM garment workers resumed work following a settlement with their employers. Union leaders denounced the agreement and planned an unsanctioned parade in protest this afternoon, though UGW of America president Thomas Rickert said it would not revive the strike.

Precipitation totals were light, with rainfall and melted snow near normal in the south. Winds came from the north. movement measured at 622 miles with 22 mph gusts from the southwest on the 7th. The month had six clear, nine partly cloudy days and thirteen hazy or cloudy days. precipitation was trace on several days, with snow on the 7th 20th and a halo observed on the 20th.

Waali D C March 3 William Jenniryan arrived in Washington and was escorted to a hotel presidential suite. He avoided confirming plans to become secretary of state, replying only with a smile as reporters pressed for cabinet details.
President-elect Wilson and family received a rousing departure at Princeton as three daughters and a group of OW Princeton students watched. The crowd cheered for half an hour until the special train left, with Mr Wilson smiling from the rear platform as college songs rang out.
