Washington announces Dr. Hubert Work will become head of the Post Office Department replacing Will H. Hays. Work, a Pueblo Colorado resident, will assume office Saturday as Hays resigns. Senate confirmation expected soon. The changes also leave first and second assistant postmaster generals to be filled after E H Shaughnessy died in the Knickerbocker theatre disaster.
Denver March 2 Dr Hubert Work of Pueblo named postmaster general making him the second Colorado man in a cabinet role Henry M Teller previously served as secretary of the interior in 1882 Work becomes the first physician from the profession to hold a cabinet position.

Fire destroyed a book bindery in a Brattle Street building yesterday in Boston. Plays programs and theatrical books from the late Brett Jansen Wendell bequest to Harvard Widener library were burned, with the Wendell theatrical collection valued near half a million dollars though most items remain at the college library.

Acute poisoning, claimed by Dr A L Newton of Northfield, caused the death of Michael Laukaitis in Vernon about three o'clock yesterday morning. Sheriff Dellman and State's Attorney Whitney investigate. Laukaitis, a Polish farmer, reportedly drank from a bottle given by a man Mrs Laukaitis said was her husband's friend. He collapsed by six and died that evening after doctors failed to revive him. An autopsy may be performed. widow and seven children left.
W A Shaw, late Nortfield weather observer, elected president at a meeting of representatives from ten bureaus of the U S Department of Agriculture in Rowton. The new club, called the Boston United States Department of Agriculture club, includes about thirty five percent of the department's personnel, with San Francisco noted as the first regional hub. Shaw, a graduate of RS University and board member, has long been associated with the university and academic circles.
