Mexican Editors Learn of America

Kington, D.C., June 20. The current tour of about one hundred Mexican newspaper editors through the United States is seen by American officials as crucial to counter German propaganda in Mexico. President Wilson met privately with the editors at the White House and urged the speech be read in Mexican papers first. Officials say German atrocities stories shock few Mexicans, who have endured revolutions. the editors report American efforts, ships, munition plants, and gun works, proving the U.S. will win with the Allies. They emphasize Mexico will be told the U.S. determination to make the world safe for democracy and a large trained army awaits after the war. The visit is viewed as vital amid German influence over much of the Mexican press. The Sunday schools of Bennings county held their annual event in Shaftebury June 27, with about 1309 attendees.
