A resident of Rutland and Voultney, 72 years old, he served as captain of Company 1 Seventh Vermont and was a member of the Masonic order having earned the thirty second degree. He leaves a wife.
Rutland county reports another bungled theft as burglars break into Westden and Hardick store by night. Shoes and clothing vanish, two cash boxes opened, and a safe breached though some victims’ items remain. Intruders used a crude exit via a broken window, leaving a shifted catch and damaged frame. Nearby shops were disturbed by the same wave of crime.
Windsor June 27 A 51 year old convict Joseph Marquette at Vermont state prison fled during roof work after a short start. He is described as 186 pounds with a dark complexion native of Lowell Massachusetts. Sheriff and authorities notified.
Charles McKnight a 34 year old painter died while fishing on a stream bank in Masthore. An investigator stated death likely from heart disease with no request for help made when his companion could not reach him. He was born October 4 in East Wallingford to Amulet and Marion McKnight and leaves a wife. The body was brought to Brittleshire that evening.
Chelsea June 27 The Inez 7 civil case in which Wm Sanborn as administrator of Eunice Comstock’s estate sued Abe Tacobr to recover about nine hundred dollars from investment use. Defense claimed Comstock provided property for her support. Trial previously in June term ended with defendant costs. verdict for plaintiff earlier, then affirmed by supreme court on exceptions. Attorneys named for both sides.

James Adie and Charles Wishart were chosen as delegates to the National Retail Monument Dealers' Convention in Cincinnati. The group discussed a possible summer outing with a Lake Champlain boat ride, appointing a committee to fix time and place.

Mrs. Sarah J. Densmore widow of Dennison Densmore died in Los Angeles at age 76. Funeral from her son Eli L. Densmore’s home at Brook and Pleasant streets Monday at 10 a.m. She was born in Orni to John P. and Melisan Peake and lived in Orange Barre and Los Angeles with her daughter Berthe Woodworth. Surviving children include Eli L. Densmore of this city and others in Maine and Massachusetts. One sister was Mrs Delia Watson. There are six grandchildren.
The funeral for Mrs Karen Gustafson Priburg was held yesterday at 2 pm from the residence on East Hill. Rev Mr Weathraft of South Barre officiated. Pallbearers were Otto Priburg Matteon Paul Hedwall and G Nelson. Interment was to Hepa Cemetery. Oral tributes praised flowers from family and friends including carnations roses and carvings from several households.
