Two men shot during arrest in Burlington
Burlington June 16 two men, policeman Christopher Miles and resident Joseph Ploof, were wounded during a warrant arrest on Ward street. Miles wounded in the back and belly, Ploof wounded twice as he fired. both were taken to Mary Fletcher Hospital with likely fatal injuries. Also, in St Albans, David Hebert, a former engine house helper, was fatally struck by a switching train in the Central Vermont yards. his body mangled, survived by wife, five sons, four daughters.

Thomas W Utton died after an illness last night in Atton Brook. He was born in Were center, Norfolk, England, one of four children. He migrated in 1611 and ran a Morse training business, becoming a renowned horse trainer in northern New England. He trained mare and stallions, with his brother noted as a driver. Survived by three daughters Mia, H. J. ope, and Myrtle Utton of Merouner. Funeral set for Sunday afternoon.

Wizard of Finance Guilty in Montreal for Misusing Client Funds
Charles Sheldon formerly from Brockton Massachusetts was found guilty in Montreal today of appropriating client investment funds for his own use. The verdict followed his claims of market insight and a so called blind pool scheme. He was sentenced to five years in prison after being brought back from Pittsburg for trial.

Slate Quarry Tragedy Claims Hughes by Falling Rock

Elderly man arrested after long chase in East Mantpeligg
Deputy Sheriff George L. Merrin arrested 70 year old Roncen Woodard at the town farm in East Mantpeligg on a charge of intoxication. Woodward resisted at first, fled into woods, but was later found and arraigned. He pleaded not guilty and the case was set for a grand jury. He was held at the police station for lack of bail.

Burglary At White-Irathers Cotton Mill In New Hampshire
Five intruders blew the safe in the White-Irathers cotton mill office at West Thornton on payday morning. A guard in the bailerhouse slept through the alarm as burglars used a blast to enter the safe and steal about 75 dollars. They escaped after tapering blankets to muffle the blast. the money was later found missing and the robbery went undiscovered until morning. One thief was captured in East Jaffrey.

In Plymouth N H on June 1 a hold up at the Weasel Lumber Co. left Mrs. Alice Heat protecting a payroll of 15.85 as robbers demand cash. A pursuing party, including John Waters and Bernard Hanscomb, fired on two men in a wood line, wounding one and forcing a surrender. Suspects identified as Robert A Sanders and Charles Davis, with Boston ties, are under investigation as the payroll is dispersed to workers.
