Arthur C Carroll driving Cadillac No. 25 277 owned by him and leader of Carrolls orchestra plunged off the Barre Montpelier road near Dewey park into the Winooski river. Thomas Arthur Forbes, oldest son of Mia ana Forbes of Montpelier, died in France on December 4 1918 after major battles with the American army. Tragic Drowning of John J Murray in Barre

The body of John J Murray a stone cutter long known in Barre and Graniteville was found near the Calder and Rich ardean coal yards in Barre after reportedly falling from a bridge during a night of drinking with companions William Springer Smith and Charles Lee. Police suspect accidental drowning but will investigate as the incident involved a delayed report and missing recovery efforts. Murray was born in Scotland Canada and resided in Barre since age 12. he was a member of several fraternal orders and leaves a sister and two brothers.
