Drowning After Bridge Fall In Barre
Bruno Marriotti a 41 year old granite cutter living at 15 George Street fell from the Central Vermont bridge south of Blackwell Street and drowned in Stevens Branch last evening around 7. A large crowd gathered as rescuers on a raft searched the stream and a false fire alarm caused a brief panic. Provencher recovered the body five feet from the north bank and it was removed with a rope and hook. Fire and police coordinated the recovery while Dr. J W Stewart examined the remains. A nearby frozen body of a man who fell from the bridge in January was found nearby along with a very small child later. Marriotti had resided in Barre eight years and was born in Italy in 1877. He leaves a wife and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 and interment is in Hope Cemetery.
