Plans describe a metal and copper esigned Lackawanna Ferry Terminal at Hoboken New Jersey with a 600 foot river facade a 225 foot tower and 54 foot high main hall. The complex includes a 200 seat restaurant second floor offices a hospital baths barber shop and extensive concourses to move passengers quickly to trains. A 30 000 person outdoor dining concourse and 40 foot steps lead to tracks while a 30 000 capacity riverfront concourse ties boats to trains.
New York June 9 The Equitable Trust Company and Equitable Assurance Society face a state investigation into alleged improprieties with reports of a $10,000,000 scandal denied by Alvin W Krech president of Equitable Trust. Directors resignations total thirteen as talks of a new chairmanship and possible nominees including Powell Morton and Gen Horace Porter circulate amid a high level conference at Alexander's office and ongoing inquiries by Superintendent Hendricks.
Philadelphia June 9 directors of the Commercial Trust Company accepted the resignation of Henry Frick as a director. Hyde and Alexander remained on the board.
In Bristol R1 on June 9, John Matroni a 15 year old Malian employed at National India Rubber Company hanged himself in a room he supervised. The room held arctic boot pieces and drawings of gallows. Police say death by self strangulation though some peers suspect an accidental experiment. The room’s door was locked with the key in his pocket. A sale ad at A A Smith & Brothers follows.
The House debated the state capitol’s rotation with Mosse Cheney extolling Barnard’s healthful climate and ponds as reasons to move from Montpelier. Westford and Burlington critics were cited while Barnard claims included clean air, longevity, and scenic views, with humorous asides about Barnard’s aged residents and local boast.
The 21st Vermont Woman's Suffrage Association annual meeting closed after two days with poor attendance due to bad weather.
