New York June 7 The Lockwood committee suspended its probe into five insurers after Samuel Untermyer announced that 43 leading companies agreed to recommendations for legislation to curb objectionable practices. The plan calls for actions through insurers associations and rating bodies without state action unless a special session is convened. The effort aims for a comprehensive inquiry and potential reforms to limit fire insurance industry practices.

Robert Andrews, 19, missing since Saturday morning, was found dead in the river near Wrightsville. The automobile lay yards from Dailey Place, with the car damaged and a tree torn bark off.
