Chiago July 24 Nearly fifty lending houses and factories are strike bound as seven hundred truck drivers join the stoppage. The drivers refuse to yield union buttons and vow to stay out, turning the dispute into a fight over union symbols.
A west bound passenger train struck two three year old girls near Center Rutland as they stood on the rails. The engineer tried to stop but could not. The injured children were removed by train crews to a nearby house where a physician treated them. One child suffered severe head and body injuries while the other was bruised but not considered dangerous.
Brattleboro correspondent reports possible renomination of Gov. Bell with a split among factions. Observers note a healthy break in old selection methods as candidates woo party leaders.
