Rutland Car Crash Leaves 2-Year-Old Seriously Hurt
In Rutland on July 23 Dr Henry Wade of Starksboro 2 years old was seriously injured when the auto he rode in struck a tree on the north side of the highway between the red bridge cove and the Center Rutland underpass. He was thrown from the car and pinned between the vehicle and the tree likely suffering internal injuries and a broken collar bone. He was taken to Rutland hospital by Dr J M Hamilton. Others in the party Mrs Wade Arthur Clifford and Wallace Hill all of Starksboro escaped injury. The two passenger Studebaker was badly damaged. The driver Arthur Clifford reportedly skidded to avoid a fast moving electric car that appeared at the crossing.

High Water Disrupts Randolph Village Streets

Drowned farmer found in brook near Randolph home
Charles Farr a farmer living between North Randolph and East Brookfield was found dead in a local brook yesterday afternoon. His son Harold and visitor Albert Tatro discovered the body, which was in water up to his chest with the head bowed. Authorities suggest he may have stooped to wash his face and fallen in. Farr, aged about 50 to 60, had recently spoken of turning the farm over to Harold and leaves a wife and three children Volney Harold and Dorothy. He also leaves two brothers and his ailing parents. A brother died about a year ago.

In Richford a lightning strike destroyed Maurice L. Smith’s barn near the village, killing two cows and burning 12 hogs, 20 calves, and 30 to 35 tons of hay. Loss estimated at 7,000 to 8,000 dollars with 4,000-dollar insurance on the barn. Evangelist killed by lightning at Fort Ethan Allen

Burlington July 4 Joseph Carroll a member of troop D of the 1th cavalry drowned at Queen City park yesterday afternoon. He was part of a large party diving from a float and disappeared for some time before his body was recovered near the float. Carroll was 25 years old and his home is said to be in Chicago.

Fireman severely injured in chaotic city fire truck crash

Neck Broken in Quarry Pit
Patrick Trembley a quarry worker for E. L. Smith Co died at Websterville Saturday afternoon after being endangered by a blast. He was sheltered under a cliff when a fragment from the blast struck him, possibly stunning him before he fell eight to ten feet to a stone pile. Dr. Hayes said the neck was broken. Trembley died ten minutes after being moved to the yard. He was 52, had 27 years with the company, survived by several daughters and a son whose whereabouts are unknown. Funeral set for Tuesday at St. Sylvester’s Graniteville with interment in St. Sylvester’s cemetery.

Pomfret Citizen Walter Perkins Ends Life in Home
Walter Perkins a long prominent Pomfret figure and historian, fatally cut his throat with a razor at his brother William A Perkins’s Pomfret home. The 56 year old unmarried man had recent mental strain and left a note of melancholy before retreating to his room. He was a former town official, state legislator in 1908, Vermont Historical Society member, and once led the Woodstock band.
