Murder near Rutland shocks local county with sixth in a year
Antonio Santo, about 35, an unmarried Italian, was found dead near Rutland's Rathind County golf links with two bullet wounds one cheek one near the heart. He lived in Rutland and worked for Fe J. Edward F. McDevitt 34 of Summer Street died at City hospital last evening after an appendectomy performed a week ago. Tubercular condition in an advanced stage left little hope of recovery. McDevitt, born in West Quincy Massachusetts, moved here five years ago and worked as a tool sharpener at the granite plant of C K Scott & Co. He is survived by his wife and one son. The remains were taken to Quines Massachusetts on the 11 40 train last night, with the funeral to be held there tomorrow.
