Heaton July 21 report that President John J. Taylor accepted Napoleon Lajoie’s proposal to trade pitcher Thielman to Cleveland for Charley Prusett or another Cleveland pitcher. Thielman impressed in a recent game against the Red Sox, and the deal would bring Prusett, who has shown potential, to the Red Sox while Thielman moves to the Indians after brief stints with the New York G hints and Cleveland. The move aims to improve both teams with a fresh start for Thielman in proper shape and Prusett’s development potential.

New York July 21 John A Van Rennselaer a member of one of New Yorks oldest families was taken into custody on a charge of attempting extortion. He allegedly wrote his mother threatening bodily harm unless she paid 5000. The letter was found unsigned and claimed to detail demands and threats.
A ragged OCR style report notes a car race incident near Inswich with a lane ride and a bad turn. It lists four teams retaining scores in the Glidden contest including Buffalo, Great Arrow No 1 driven by Arthur Kempf, Great Arrow No 3 driven by Charles S Burman, Peerless No 6 driven by W C Straub, and Peerless No 7 driven by H I Savage.
William Cox pleaded guilty to a breach of the peace in Rutland on July 21. He was sent to the house of correction for not less than two nor more than twelve months after arriving at health officer C Vall’s residence following an incident involving a firearm and alleged health-law violations. Health officer Batl had been notified by Cox’s children and refused to see him. a warrant for Cox’s arrest was later sworn out.
Chicago July 21 William McGahe last Y. MLA relay runner reached City Mall and delivered the message to Mayor Bosse at 1:40 a.m., beating the original schedule by 1 hour and 90 minutes. The average speed of the whole run was 80 miles per hour as spectators lined streets to City Hall.
Morning fire in Nashua at Pine and Chymnut streets damaged a two and a half story brick frame building owned by Charles Blunt estate and housing J L Lavier grocery. Fire started about 12 20 am and swept the structure, with losses estimated near four thousand dollars on stock and similar on the building, with tenants including barber Exlwird Cote and shoemaker A I Kelley. Several residents narrowly escaped as flames quickly spread through the tenement. Police and fire departments responded promptly but containment took hours.

Henry Powell, a traveling medicine seller under the alias Montana Harry, was arrested by Milford police after a complaint by Marion Harris of the Lincoln House alleging a statutory offense at Powell’s hotel room. Powell denies the accusation. Lanford, Stratton, and other names appear in disputed statements.
New York July 21 Mrs Leste Carster divorced years ago and remarrried but still using her first husband name on stage testified before a United States commissioner that she is now without funds in debt and that her last tour under her own management was a financial failure Her examination sought to uncover assets beyond those listed in her prior bankruptcy petition She recalled starting a road tour in 1907 with little more than railroad fares and funds to haul scenery from storage saying the venture was unprofitable and resulted in losses
Police disclosed a plan to burn a three family house at 1057 Cambridge Street. The hallway and walls were smeared with kerosene and match heads sprinkled on every surface to ignite the fire while avoiding suspicion. A milkman spotted the trap and alerted investigators now conducting the inquiry.
Lyndonville reports two eight and seven year old boys, Leo Beauregard and William Jock, drowned after a boating mishap near the river by the schoolhouse. Their garments were found on the riverbank and both bodies recovered downstream in ten foot water. Leo was the son of Mr and Mrs Fred Beauregard, William the son of Mr and Mrs Elmer Jock.
In Brattleboro on July 21 Charles Oakes camped on river island land opposite the village and sold ice cream and soda on a Sunday. A CT river power company landowner notified him the land would not be used for Brattleboro policy and he must not sell on Sundays. Oakes said a misunderstanding caused the event and that talks were ongoing with others who control another island section.

The trial followed an altercation on Sunday with Mrs. George Stone, with robust defense and sharp counterclaims from others.

The Central Vermont passenger train from Montpelier made two failed attempts to reach Barre yesterday between 4 PM and 11 PM. The first wreck occurred south of the covered bridge at the electric car barn, tearing up the track for several rods. An engine helped move cars back to the capitol around eight. On the second attempt at eleven, the engine jumped the rails near Wells River, two cars followed, and after realignment the service finally reached Barre at two this morning.
The centennial of Bethany Congregational Church in Montpelier was ended last night with a six o'clock supper for members and guests. Greetings from city churches and the city government followed, then the closing service of the celebration. Rev. F. A. Poole of Harre Congregational Church led a sermon on The Church of Yesterday and the Church of Today. A visual program was presented by the Montpelier Military Band Orchestra.

Gaudenzio Martorio of 10 Smith Street died after leaping from a fast moving electric car when his hat was blown away. He fell into a brook near the Intercity grounds at Benjamin's Falls and was found lifeless on rocks. He died at City hospital from a crushed skull. He was 27, born in Italy, leaving a wife and a four week old child.
Granite Savings Bond and Trust Company sues James B Campbell and others in chancery seeking foreclosure of a $2,000 mortgage on quarry property bought by Campbell on December 7 190? The petition asserts the note dated December 10 1908 remains unpaid. Hearing scheduled for Tuesday September 8 at Montpelier with Frank J Martin as solicitor.
The Burns club marks the anniversary of Robert Burns death with laurel wreaths on the Burns monument. Robert Barns died 112 years ago. the monument was unveiled nine years ago by nine admirers. Funeral of James Campbell, former club president, held this afternoon. Campbell led unveiling ceremonies. Robert Inglis was president at that time. Monument unveiled by Mixa Florence Inglis, daughter of the president. Marie Burns club founded in 1880. three original members remain: Robert Inglis, William Mackie, and Alex. M. Smith.
The funeral of five month old Kenneth William Fraser was held at two this afternoon with Rev. Cameron officiating. The child was found dead in bed Sunday morning around 4:30. Interment followed at Hope Cemetery. Doctors suspect heart failure as the cause.
