Auto kills child in Manchester crash

Choked to Death by Reins Near Jericho Center

Burlington reports Carl M. Lacailade of Spring Street died Saturday evening near Jericho Center from being choked by reins while riding a two seated gig to West Bolton for his wife and child. Lemoux, his companion, survived with minor injuries as the horses stood still on the roadside. The accident occurred around 8:30 pm when Lacailade supposedly lost balance while the reins were around his neck, leading to his fatal suffocation.

Prominent Montpelier Citizen L Bart Cross Dies at Home

L Bart Cross, Montpelier merchant and banker, died at his home on 30 School Street shortly after returning from an auto trip. Born August 9, 1899, he served in Civil War era terms, led a bakery business for 35 years, and held trusteeships with Montpelier Savings Bank and Heaton Hospital. Survived by son Charles Harrison Cross of Boston and daughter Carrie Cross of Montpelier, with several relatives elsewhere. Funeral arrangements awaited his son's arrival from Boston.

MRS LUCRETIA GOODRICH DIES AT BARRE FRAME

The deceased Mrs Lucretia Goodrich was born in Williams Town and married Warren Goodrich about 46 years ago in Brookfield. They later resided in Barre. She died July 2, 1888. Her death will be mourned by a large circle of friends. The funeral will be held Wednesday at the parish church with interment at Whitmore. The remains will be taken to the family plot.
