French commander reports capture of Longpont and two additional advances on the Marne salient's west side. He states German resistance offers no rest as American sector operations remain active north of the line.
Allied gains reported north and south of Longpont as French and British forces push along the Marne salient. Longpont village on the Savieres river captured with a farm taken, Chavigny farm area advanced, and farms east of Faverolles occupied. In Montdidier and Champagne, 15 prisoners taken. British raids northeast of Morris yielded over 120 prisoners.
London reports last night British troops conducted raids in Flanders near Morris and Meteran and in the Kemmel sector. A patrol captured prisoners. Another party attacked German lines near Hamel south of the Somme. A pistole laech near Gavrelle yielded prisoners. In Merrie area British forces took 120 prisoners.
Paris reports that Britain’s fighting force has been restored to its approximate 1917 size, totaling about 2,000,000 men. The dispatch notes ongoing mobilization and reevaluation of manpower as the war effort stabilizes.

Geneva July 12 German press notes the Baden Landtag asks the government to seek peace talks with the enemies to end night air raids on towns. It condemns German fear as hypocritical while recounting German bombings of London and other cities.
New York July 12 Lieutenant Osborn of New York, 24, Princeton graduate, is reported wounded in France for the second time. Previously listed as slightly wounded in April, he was shot in the groin on June 6. His two brothers also serve. one, Fiarl Dodge Osborn, was wounded driving an ambulance.
About 500 to 600 Smith and Weston workers in Springfield Massachusetts struck today over wages improved conditions and reinstating shop stewards fired yesterday. The firm, engaged on government contracts, faced the protest.
Paris dispatch cites Berlin newspaper Vossische Zeitung on the German demand of about 7,000,000 rubles as compensation arising from Brest-Litovsk settlement claims investigated by a mixed commission.

May tax receipts show admissions and theater related revenue rising, while travel related taxes fall from April. Officials report May revenue at about 129.2 million dollars with entertainment taxes near 45 million.
Washington July 12 General Pershing's communique reports five American airplanes on a bombing expedition failed to return. The German report claimed five Laairplanes were in German hands. the aircraft were part of a six plane squadron that began the Coblenz raid, crew reportedly captured. A German raid into the Vosges failed before reaching American lines. other points saw quiet activity.
Secretary Daniels message in the Mafin notes France and the United States share historical friendship and are united against autocracy. He says hundreds of thousands of troops in France are the vanguard of larger armies to follow and submarines will be used to stop them. He also states the United States will participate in the July 14 celebration.

Washington July 12 Ronard Ainsmith catcher of the Washington American Teague club has been ordered to engage in useful employment or be placed in class 1A by his local draft board today. Joe Judge, first baseman, has also received a similar notice.
New York July 12 Tr Edward A Rumely former publisher of the New York Evening Mail arrested on perjury charges over the paper's ownership says he will waive immunity and reveal all facts to Senator Wa King if a Senate investigation is authorized He telegrammed King stating he will place at once all information in his possession and assists the inquiry
Turkey says it will ascertain the truth about the reported seizure of the American consulate and the sacking of an American hospital in Tabriz Persia by Turkish soldiers. The statement promises action at the earliest possible moment amid the ongoing inquiry.
Elizabeth Alice Carton and Harry Weston Averill were married July 9 at the home of Mrs Francis W Vigneault in Montreal. The bride, a Barre resident and Spaulding alumna, wore a white charmeuse gown with orange blossoms. A small forenoon fire at the St. Albans Gas company gas house on Laselle Street caused hundreds of dollars in damage and may cut gas service for days. Sparks in the boiler room ignited oil. flames spread via a wooden partition to the roof as firefighters battled the blaze beneath a metal structure.
