German forces broke through the Allied line along the Belgian coast after pounding the British entrenchments on the sand dunes, pushing past the Yser right bank as bombardment shattered fortifications.
British forces reported a 24 hour bombardment preceding a full assault along a 1,490 yard front with a 600 yard depth. German troops penetrated near the Yser, reached the right bank, and fought near Nieuport, Havincourt, and Mondre-Prenx as heavy artillery raged along the coast. Russian forces also reported advances and prisoner captures near Halicz and Lomnica, with Halicz’s railway junction key to the Galician front.
Berlin reports 1,250 prisoners captured by German marine corps in the Yeer district, with headquarters issuing the announcement via London.
London July 11 an air raid on the enemy fleet at Constantinople is announced by the war office bombs were dropped on the Turkish ruler sultan Selim formerly the German cruiser Goeben. The extent of damage is not given. The war office says Constantinople was surprised and anti aircraft batteries did not fire. The British airmen returned without casualties.
War office reports a small enemy surprise attack west of Froidmont farm repulsed with active artillery along the front. The action touched areas from Meromuvilliers to Hill 04 Le Mort Homme and posts south of St Georges. Air and artillery operations continued near Newport Thomude Steenstrate Het Sas and Verdun sectors.

Mrs Margaret Debrave of Manchester New Hampshire and her two young daughters Annie aged three and Mary eighteen months were found dead in the kitchen from gas poisoning. Husband Philip Debrave returned from work to a locked house and discovered the scene after she left a note to her mother explaining her intention and love for the children. Police and two physicians could not revive them. the family reportedly came from Buster.
At Essex Junction July 11 a laundry car owned by W W Palmer collided with a Burlington river train near Johnson's mill. Driver Mise Elsie Palmer and passengers including Simeon Palmer and Richard Supernaw sustained minor injuries. The front track suffered damage with two wheels broken. The crossing lacks gates bells or warning devices. Previously a similar accident occurred at a laundry track owned by Haselrig.
A planned Harre family excursion to Fort Ethan Allen on Sunday July 15 appears likely to be canceled due to infantile paralysis concerns. Brigadier General J J Dickman U S Army informs Barre Police Chief that public picnics on the fort grounds amid the epidemic are not desirable this month and urges authorities not to import disease germs.
Katherine Rita Bergen daughter of Mrs Kalla Bergen of Git Montpierr and Carlyle J. Hanseck son of Mr and Mrs Hemma Hancock of Randolph were married at the Catholic rectory in Montpelier at 8 am. Rev. P B Long officiated. The bride wore a blue traveling gown and matching hat with her sister Mary M Her gen as bridesmaid. The groom, Allen Hancock, is a Montpelier High School and Norwich University graduate who works in the Reston and Albany rail head valuation department and awaits a commission as second lieutenant. The bride has long operated toll in the Montpelier telephone exchange.

The Senate will vote on the bill July 21 after Democratic leaders agreed to drop several drastic provisions including strict prohibition clauses.

Regular meetings set for the fourth Thursday monthly. Officers and staff discussed drawing school expansion, repairs, and possible use of Church Street Schoolhouse for exhibitions with manufacturer cooperation.
