Paris Jan 27 The supreme council of the peace conference met at 10:30 AM with full attendance. Technical advisers on colonial matters, including three Americans, accompanied delegations and entered the foreign office for the day's work.
Paris dispatch reports Japan rejects territorial expansion in China or Siberia. Delegates Makino and Uchida affirm Japan will respect China's borders, aid in restoring order if needed, and return Taingtao to China under 1915 notes, while avoiding press questions on diet matters.
Reports from Paria and Liverpool indicate rapid progress toward finalizing Germany peace terms. Mrs Mary Sherburne of Moretown funeral held Saturday afternoon. Born in Duxbury, daughter of Anne and Sarat Cobb. Wife of Augustus M Sherburne, long-time resident of Duxbury and Moretown where they kept a hotel. She leaves a sister and a brother in Duxbury and a sister Lucy O'Brien in Barre.
Rear Admiral F. E. Chadwick, 88, retired, died last night at Newport. The Century Association announced the death, noting Chadwick’s service and his inclusion on the naval list.
Miss Anna Reed former head waitress at Hotel Barre married Matthew J. Reed manager of the A P store at Bennington in a 7 am ceremony at St Maotha’s church Rev J M McKeenan officiating. Attendant Mina Winifred McDonald of St Albans, groom’s attendant A T Coleman of St Alban. Newlyweds sail to St Albans then Portland for their wedding trip and plan to reside in Mennington.
The annual Monona Grange meeting in Plainfield Saturday elected R S Collins master. Russell Golline remained master and C L Martin was tyte master as officers and a lively afternoon program followed with speeches by Benjamin Bates A W Howitt and Representative Austin among others. The session closed with singing and report of the previous year praised.
Huson and Worcester Street Railway company car men in Washington receive a wage increase from the War Labor Board. The award sets 47 cents per hour initially, with a 5 cent raise after three months and a further 1 cent after one year, aiming to reach a minimum 24.45 cents per hour for long-term workers.
