In Baltimore a man shot a young woman in view of passersby then killed himself. The woman, found with a marriage license, had been married in Washington, D.C. It emerged the man, Herman Ensor, had separated from his wife three months earlier.
In London this morning forty suffragettes confronted Home Secretary Winston Churchill as he attended a cabinet meeting. The demonstrators bore inscribed banners and targeted Churchill, but were dispersed by the police with some rough handling reported.
Gov Foss signed the certificate of Henry Cabot Lodge’s six year U S Senate election from March 4 at 1:15 a m last night. The document, countersigned by the secretary of the commonwealth, will be sent to the U S Senate president and Lodge’s private secretary Dudley Helman said there would be no press statement beyond the certificate. The governor’s signature followed a long executive council budget committee session that day.
Reports from Melbourne say the steamer Parisiana, built in 1909 at Newcastle and owned by Furness Withy & Co, left New York Oct 20 and later abandoned a drifting area. The Transport arrived from Bueno in West Australia with the crew. Parisiana likely carried a large merchandise cargo and no passengers. She was to reach Melbourne early in January.
In New York on January 19 15 hundred invitations were sent for a ceremony honoring Ellen Terry for distinguished services to dramatic art. The gold medal was presented by the founders of the New Theater along with a parallel honor to Mr Horne Furness. A special performance of Maeterlinck’s Sister Beatrice preceded the presentation.
A seventeen foot double runner carrying eighteen youths slid downhill in Laconia New Hampshire last night and struck a fence near Judge Thompson’s residence. Joseph Best aged 14 suffered a broken right leg and was hospitalized for treatment. Albert Emery aged 18 sustained a fracture of the right leg and a possible eye wound. Bernard Emery aged 10 sustained a sprained leg and many injuries. The other riders, including Corri Harlow Lena Kent Raymond Stone Marlow and Lewis Raymond, were bruised and treated at home. Pickets along the fence were torn for over fifteen feet.
William Adler, once ident of the state National Bank of New Orleans, was found guilty yesterday in federal court on eighty counts of misapplying bank funds. He had previously been convicted and sentenced to six years, a verdict later reversed, and the new trial follows allegations of overdrawing his and a local member’s accounts by over $120,000 with offenses spanning 1907. Adler chartered a steamer, sailed for Central America, and survived a wreck off Honduras before returning to New Orleans.
News arrives of the death of Abbott Wilkes a famed trotting horse once owned by Smiths later at Trow stables. He rose to prominence at a Rigby Me meet in 1895 with a record fast time of 3 511. After changing hands to McCaskell of Bury Quebec he was retired from racing to breeding and recently died after calic illness.

Rutland January 20 Daniel J Fitzsim mons 30 year old unmarried Rutland Street Railway Light and Power employee died today after grasping a live wire at the top of a pole west of Whirl Haven. He was knocked to the ground after receiving about 2500 volts and died from the electric shock amid a severe fall.

Jay 21 year old tester Willan Brooks, famed NH horse handler known as Lost Horses, died recently. Survived by wife Milie Brooks, two sisters, and several relatives.
