A January noon fire at the G. E. Shedaker shirtwaist company in the Nos. Attorsville building trapped 50 to 100 workers on upper floors. Dozens jumped to the street. more than forty are reported dead or dying and dozens more hospitalized.
Porton January 19 William Witham a lodger on the top floor of a Roxbury building at 75 Bickfond Street was burned to death today before he could reach rest. It is supposed the fire started from an overdue lamp Witham was subject to convalescence.
Fire today partially destroyed the palace near the Turkish Parliament in Constantinople. A large portion of the building was scorched with several valuable records damaged or lost. The blaze reportedly began earlier in the day and crews battled the flames for hours.
