Two workmen died and five were seriously injured when a tunnel explosion occurred fifty feet underground. A prior blast within six hours had left three men seriously burned. Fumes from dynamite used near the city water works construction are suspected as the cause.
Charles Dupaw Jr aged about 20 from Washington DC was found dead near a Graves farm scale shed one mile north of Winooski Vermont. A Standard Oil team driver discovered the body while en route to Colchester. Dr Thabault ruled death due to exposure after about an hour. the man sat on a beam with an arm over wire fencing, having wandered Wat from Burlington the previous night. He previously lived in Winooski before moving to Washington with parents and grandparents, survived by his father and a sister in Washington. Remains sent to Burlington.
In Washington January 15 the Massachusetts militia artillery marksmen won overall in twelve inch rifle practice. Connecticut militiamen took first in ten inch rifle, while Helvidtn and New York organizations placed in eight and six inch title practice.
North Horo hears jurors summoned, petit jury released until next Monday. Judge Mather travels to Montpelier to sit with the case, three criminal cases and one civil case expected for jury trial or hearing. Attorneys present include Todd Bullard Cowles Moulton Hagan Austry Ayree Webster.

He is of dark complexion, full beard, medium height, and slightly stooped.

Lewis DParintoo pleaded not guilty yesterday in Addison county court to a charge of second degree murder in Middlebury. The trial began with a Burlington doctors as witnesses and a lengthy effort to empanel a jury. Jury was seated after about 20 talesmen. afternoon session sawAttorney General Ruefos F. Brown called to Montpelier and support arranged from Rutland to assist State's Attorney Tuttle amid health concerns.

Daniel F. Davis of Barre was chosen president of the Vermont State Board of Pharmacy for the coming year at the annual meeting in the State House Montpelier. Other officers named included Mason J. Beebe Burlington treasurer A G McClellan Rutland. board members W P Toot Brattleboro and W J Gokay Bennington. Five candidates for druggist certificates were examined at the State House, with results to be announced later.
The annual meeting of the Barre Savings Bank and Trust Co was held in Howland building. Directors re-elected for a final year include A Kastan Burt H Ms Homer Fitts and F Howland. The board organized with A Bastian as president and I Milner as vice president. Montpelier and Barre unite to form bets University Club with noted figures including Riatmar President Sj of Sore wich university and linen Shaw in attendance.
