Boston Jan 11 A grand jury in Suffolk county court returned a true bill charging James H Jennings known as Young Kid Carter with murder in the first degree. He is accused of killing William H McPherson in a South End saloon on New Year’s Day.
New York January illness of Federal District Judge Charles Hough may force a new trial for Julian Hawthorne Joshua Quincy Albert Freeman and Dr. William J Morton. The seven week case on mail fraud in promoting mining firms may have to restart if the judge cannot continue. The assistant DAs study whether to redo the already covered proceedings.
Rutland Jan 11 After two dive hunt which terminated last night Abe Simonds a trapper at Plymouth has for sale four black bear skins worth nearly 20 apiece plus a $10 state bounty each He made a good living with traps in fall and early winter having caught another bear earlier along with 14 foxes a rare cross fox 47 skunks 18 weasels seven mink and 10 muskrat Revenue totals 189 before deducting bear fur costs as market remains strong.
In New York on January 11 mediators Charles P. Neill and Martin A. Knapp renewed mediation between the locomotive firemen's union and fifty eastern railroads. After a thirteen hour shift yesterday both sides agreed to continued talks but kept negotiations confidential.
Newport Jan 11 The public services commission finds it impracticable to offer the new pass station at White River Junction on the old triangular site and orders Boston and Maine and Central Vermont to build a new union station to the west of all tracks. Plans must be approved by April 1 1915 and completed before Jan 1 1916 with no major track grade changes. The old station was destroyed in November 1911 and the move may abandon the Central Vermont yard though a new valid site can be built nearby.
Jan 11 in Burlington a light smallpox case prompted strict quarantine measures. Mrs Corey and family were isolated after Mr Corey returned Friday from Northfield where an outbreak caused quarantine. Health officials reported four cases in the area and urged vigilance while authorities traced contacts and warned residents to avoid spread.

Funeral services for Robert Maitland were held at the Perry Chapel on Depot Square. The funeral, following a long illness, featured Montpelier Military District members and a Weass quartet. burial occurred at Elmwood Cemetery with relatives from Haverstrasm attending.
