Pleaded Guilty to Stabbing in Burlington
William Scott known as the hackman pleaded guilty to stabbing Margaret Fitzgerald in Burlington. He was sentenced to not less than two nor more than five years in state prison, but the sentence was suspended on costs and Scott placed with a probation officer. Rutland Jan 5 One of the strangest freak accidents saved Frederick Platt Jr son of US Clerk Frederick Platt of North Main Street from a serious wound. The gun misfired hitting the boy in the hip tearing a hole but sparing the abdomen. The watch carried in his trousers waistband drove into the wound and was removed during surgery at Rutland hospital. Platt is recovering and expected to gain strength. his father attended to him at the camp before transport to hospital.
