Shanghai dispatch reports the imperial government orders imperial troops to resume hostilities on January 1 unless an armistice is renewed. The move follows believed refusals by revolutionaries to continue telegraph negotiations with the Peking authorities over premier demands.
Boston January 4 A verdict of 641675 was awarded to Harlan P Arming ton a railway mail clerk for injuries from a collision between his train and another train at South Royalton Vermont on January 13 1907 He sued for 25000 with a March 1907 trial date set in the first district superior court in Boston.
Albert Marke, a Plaza cafe waiter, narrowly escaped being shot when Mrs Perelman, showing a revolver to a man, apparently triggered it accidentally. The pistol discharged, sending powder into Markes face and lodging in a wall. Perelman fainted and remained shaken through the night.
At Foston on January 4 a man wearing only a bed spread ran through Roxbury streets bleeding and delusional. He was chased and captured on a street car, then identified as James Wastham and taken to the police station. He claimed to have escaped City Hospital and was returned there as hospital authorities were notified. The incident was linked to delirium tremens.
Samuel Bassino, held as a possible match to Edward Donato in the Morner family killings, was released by Bennington and returned to Vermont where he had been at work. Locals say Bassino bears no resemblance to Donato, the Italian suspect.

Weeks elected president with Col C Ualey as first vice president and E N Missell as second vice president. Officers include VC Dyer treasurer and Charles F Angers auditor. Directors chosen: John A James, William O Mack, Curay H Smith. Next fair set for August 27 28 30. Entertainment by Blandish male quartet and Herbert A. Clark.
The Rutland agricultural fair held its annual meeting with reports showing receipts of 20031 and expenses totaling 41000, leaving a balance. Officers elected included treasurer Will Davie, president J Faresworth, and trustees from Rutland and nearby towns.
A central Vermont line derailment near Stanbridge Que disrupted morning traffic. A five-car freight train derailed at high speed tearing track roadbed for 20 rail lengths, no injuries reported. Wrecking crews and a special train were dispatched to assist passengers and restore service.
Oveda Pernault aged 21 was committed to county jail Tuesday on acute insanity charges after an axe assault on George Mattison of North Bennington. He was moved to Brattleboro yesterday with his father Angust Pereault. A crowd formed at the car and Pernault resisted, four men pinning him. Mire Ronelia Menard of St Albans died days ago after breaking one hip in a fall. Survived by son Frank Menard of Fairfield and daughter Mrs. Stanley Clemens of Boston. Funeral held this morning at 11 o'clock at St Marys church.

A Swede from a lumber camp near Conway Travelled 60 miles to Berlin for supposed blood poisoning and was found to have smallpox upon hospital admission. Berlin officials placed all nearby camps under quarantine and fumigated stations while training staff and contacts were ordered to immediate isolation. Franklin also reported a suspected smallpox case, later deemed true, with quarantine enforced at Welch’s home. This marks the first local case in nearly a year.

Harry M. Densmore of East Street dies at 22 Kant Street residence in Barre area after visit with kin in Colchester. He leaves wife, three daughters Mrs. AX Troup, Mrs. George Collamer, Miss Pearl Densmore, and sons William of Barre, Carl and Frank of Colchester. A Civil War veteran with quiet, retiring disposition, he had lived in Barre eighteen years and was born in Freeborn years ago. Central Vermont railroad completed a steel road bridge over Blackwell Street replacing the old wooden span. Bridge No 12 features a through girder steel floor system and wide 85 feet, spanning a 3 foot width, with foundations laid last November. The couple will reside in Hanover before moving to Norover N H to establish their home. The bride, formerly of Barre, graduated from Spaubling High School. The groom has worked as a clerk in one of Hanover's stores.
