Graniteville February carnival at Miles hall drew strong attendance on February 23 24 and 28 under Muneballani degree lodge MM W. Organizers CU C Perkins Allen Fulmer and John A Melver earned praise for decor and booth setups. A first class entertainment featured Prof. Corkey directing dances and a notable exhibit by the degree team. Prizes included a gold watch chain won by Miss Fitie and various gifts such as an oak chair and a meer shaum pipe awarded to multiple donors.
On the charge of larceny, $20 stolen from Thomas J Menner, Roy Smith and George Alexander. One suspect was arrested Saturday night by a Montpelier officer while fleeing an electric car just arriving from Barre. He claimed innocence, was held for Barre police, and was brought to Barre for trial.

John B., a well known Barre citizen, died this forenoon at his Warren Street home from consumption. He was born in Peterhead, Scotland, and had lived in Barre about 18 years. He leaves a wife, a daughter three years old, and siblings in Scotland. The funeral will be Thursday at two in the Presbyterian church. He was a past president of the Burns Club and held several local posts including vice president of Glenagle Club and senior deacon of Granite Tadds Masons. He was a member of Barre Branch Stonecutters’ Union.
Lorenzo D Blanchard of Hinsdale New York died at Gale farm after a long carpenter career near South Main. He would have been 75. Survived by wife Nellie Gale and children Glee Neal and Winn, plus sisters Dries Blanchard and Mrs Renerson. Funeral Wednesday at 1:30 from home with Rev Lowe officiating. interment in Kimwood cemetery.
Reuben A Drew of Barre died Saturday after two years of ill health and a recent decline. He had lived in the city for sixteen years and was a veteran Mass attendee before moving here. He leaves six brothers and two sons Arno and Dana. Funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 PM from the rooms in the Brrock with Rev. F A Poole officiating.
Funeral services for Joseph Lavelle were conducted at St Monicta Parish with pallbearers including Gravelin BE J Owens Dennis Cleary Marlin McMahon of Barre Orvil Prince and others. Interment followed in the Catholic cemetery and numerous floral tributes honored the deceased.

He urged church members to view their work as part of Christian duty, invite inactive locals to attend, and pray for the parish priest as the church works together for its purpose.
