Body placed in tomb at Bin wood. interment in Catholic cemetery in the spring.
In St Johnsbury on February 23 Cape Gilson recruiting officer of the First Vermont sent two North Stratford boys to White River Junction for examination. The pair arrived financially broke with their belongings stolen at the depot. They wore minimal clothing and trousers only to shield from winter, believing they had reached an armory at St Johnsbury for enlistment when Captain Gilson arrived to conduct the purpose.
The funeral of Charles B. Davis a well known farmer from Richardson road was held this afternoon at his home with Rev W U Lipsky of the Hedding Model church officiating. Pallbearers were four sons Fred and William Davis of Massachusetts field Private Newton Davis of Camp Devens and Reginald Davis of this city. Interment was in the Maplewood family lot at Maplewood cemetery.
Boston officials report three proposals for higher wages for Boston Elevated Railway workers who voted Thursday night to strike. President Brush replied that officers might wish for a raise, but he has no knowledge any official pressed men for higher pay.

Washington Feb 23 Director General McAdoo issued a general order restricting creation of new social positions by railroads and the raising of officers salaries without approval. J Portalupi of Barre volunteered for naval service and shipbuilding work.
A large audience attended a minstrel show at Howland hall last evening raising funds for the Red Cross. Local artists including John Danson, Clement McMahon, and Alfred O’Connell performed under Universalist clutch, with a finale scene featuring a Red Cross nurse and British and American flags. Proceeds from the event supported Red Cross work.
