Bavarian capital sees violence with three officials wounded including Minister of Interior Auer who is not expected to recover after a bullet grazed his heart and Minister of Justice Timm mortally wounded as riots spread across the city.
Reports from Berlin say Minister of Justice Timm and Minister of Social Alaire Unterleitner were wounded when Bavarian Interior Minister Aver was shot at the Bavarian Landtag. Auer was struck in the heart and died later. the chamber adjourned as riots swirled around Munich amid unrest tied to the Eisner assassination.
Berlin reports growing unrest in Munich with red pig placards reading Revenge for Eisner carried by processions. Workers call for general strike as armed demonstrators gather amid sporadic shooting and widespread resentment toward the bourgeois.
Paris February 23 Premier Clemenceau is fatigued and will receive no one today doctor cautions. A medical bulletin notes the premier’s temperature at 37.1 C and a normal pulse as officials prepared a synoptic update. Alexandre Millerani, a former wartime ally, described the premier as tired but generally satisfactory despite yesterday’s overindulgence.

Washington February 22 1918 19 The wheat guarantee bill passed the House by 277 to 15 with a 1.0 billion dollar appropriation. It creates a government system to buy wheat from farmers and sell to consumers while giving the president broad authority over mills wholesalers jobbers and bakers. The measure also extends to June 1 1920 and tightens controls to prevent undue losses. Federal Judge John M. Rillite sentenced Hayer L. Nederiigg to 19 years for violating the espionage act. Nederiigg, alleged World War I agitator and organizer, faced deportation discussions as immigration officials seek his retention or deportation to Russia. The judge warned he would protect America from such activities.
A bus crash in Winooski involving a cab driver George Coveau and a carriage from Brighwood livery injures Mrs Mire Hrupike Loiselle and Mrs. George Merchant and two children. A four year old girl sustains minor injuries but later is reported fine. A horse veered, carriage toppled into an embankment near East Canal Street and the mill.

New York February 22 Army transports Henderson and Orizaba arrived today from Bordeaux with 77 officers and 4,205 men. Henderson carried convalescent detachments numbered 16, 1, 43, 45, 46, 34, 58, and 86, plus a casual company unit bound for Camps Grant. Five officers and twelve men were bedridden. Orizaba carried Handywinners supply and ordnance detachments, medical detachments, batteries A L B C D and others, for Camp Des Quarter Master casual company four and Bordeaux convalescent detachments numbered 40 and 90.

A northbound Central Vermont mail train plunged down a 15-foot embankment near Webbapur, demolishing a freight switch and delaying both north and southbound services. Fireman Johnson sustained a broken leg and another worker bruises, with passengers unharmed. A special Barre branch train ferried passengers to Montpelier, and service resumed by early morning after a long clearance and rerouting via Wells River and Montpelier.
Bethel Vermont residents recount a car crash yesterday when a vehicle carrying Howard W Fowler and Sharon Howe veered off a road near Woodstock. The occupants were thrown from the vehicle. Mrs. Fowler was hospitalized for treatment after the wreck.
The funeral for Margaret A Mehown took place at St Monchurch this morning with Rev Fr TM McKenna officiating. A large gathering of friends attended and laid flowers as a testament to her esteem. burial followed at the Catholic cemetery on Bouklex Street.
