Albany February 10 Hans Schmidt former New York priest convicted of murder in the first degree for the death of Anna Aumäeuller in Newine in September 113 must pay the penal ty of the crime in the electric chair at Sing Sing during the week of February 13 Gov Whitman declined to interfere Schmidt was convicted on his second trial and the court affirmed the conviction but ruled the claim by Miss Aumueller's attorneys that the death was caused by a criminal operation thus not manslaughter The governor reviewed medical testimony and two physicians examined preserved portions of Miss Aumueller's body at Copnell Medical College His statement said the victim did not die from a criminal operation and Schmidt has been fairly tried He denounced Schmidt as false and said all proof compels the assertion to be false

Jeste S Vilea a former Montpelier business figure died in Boston at the Vendome hotel from pneumonia after about 10 days illness. Born March 1858 in Weston Massachusetts he built wealth through hotels a water works plant and a mill remained active on Western Avenue Montpelier after selling ventures. Survived by daughter Katherine Bailey Vilea, burial arrangements not given.
Mrs Alm Downing Tillotson wife of L D Tillotson died at her Washington home at 2 am after about a month of illness. She was born in May 1860 and would be near 66. Survived by husband two daughters Mrs Fred Goodwin Chel pea and Mrs Albert Bresnelle Washington. three grandsons Merlin Elmer and Vincent Goodwin. Funeral Saturday at 1 pm from her home conducted by Rev AM Smith Williamstown. burial village cemetery in Washington.
Brattleboro reports two lawsuits against Central Vermont Railway Co seeking damages of 1000 for Mrs. Nora Howe and granddaughter Marion Howe. The family, riding in an auto with H. H. Howe, were injured Sept 10, 1915 at Park's siding Wat Town hend when their car was struck by a locomotive crossing the track. Plaintiffs allege negligence. case debated on due care.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in South Royalton for Ralph W. Hutchins, who died recently after a period in New York. He was a secretary at VOM.A, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Hutchins, a local graduate, and survived by his wife. Burial took place in Riverview cemetery.

Independence Kentucky February 1 The bodies of Edward Sagers and his wife Berna were found with bullet wounds in their home near here a revolver nearby.
