A blaze at the Standard Oil sulphuric acid plant in Point Richmond California destroyed the facility and a 600000 gallon crude oil tank, with total damage estimated at 600000 dollars. Worker Carl McPherson was severely burned after falling into an acid tank during the fire.
A fire in Brooklyn destroyed the five story factory of the F Bischof Corona and Chocolate company in the heart of the business district. The loss is estimated at 250000, with millions of dollars of property under threat.
In Cambridge at the Armory Athletic Association venue Pat Moore of Philadelphia protested his opponent George Tiger of Cambridge overweight and refused to continue. Kid Seale of Spokane replaced Moore and lost a twelve round decision. Young McGovern of Woburn drew with Jack Leonard in an eight round bout after a first round jaw fracture. Coote of Greenfield defeated You Kenney of Woburn in six rounds and Joe White of South Boston beat Johnie Gallant of Chelsea in six rounds.
Goddard seminary defeated Lamoille Central Academy 87 to 17 at Hyde Park in a dominant performance after opening the trip with a win over People's Academy in Morrisville. The seminary team, led by sustained effort and superior height, played a clean game against Hyde Park's veteran lineup.
R F E Houghton of Isle La Motte and his daughter Meatrice with Ming Buck sey, a Swanton high school teacher, were lost on Lake Champlain Friday night after a trip to Al Lug to meet a 7 10 train. A south wind and light snow reduced visibility and they sheltered by their horses until daylight. They later found they were south of Point au Fer on the New York side and resumed their search toward land.

Mise Alice Swift visits Mien Loretta Miles then returns home today. The ladies and pastor's union hold a regular meeting in the Methodists league room this afternoon. A program by Arthur Pippin of the Salem military band will be given before his departure with the band in March for Europe. Notable hotel arrivals include M A Wallace and F A Kelly in Boston.
The Barre Congregational church brotherhood held a 6.30 oyster supper in the vestry with about fifty men present. City Judge William Scott spoke on the liquor license issue, urging a no vote, and compared past versus present temperance conditions. Rev Perrin H. Alice Bryson a middle aged colored servant in the household of C P Moat of South Willard street attempted death by own action while intoxicated yesterday in Burlington Moat found her lying at the kitchen door with gas burners turned to full and one lighted Police later arrested her Bryson who came to the city with the tenth cavalry and resided near the post until last November had shown a cheerful disposition and during transit to jail confessed to the motive The case ends with Bryson placidly in her jail cell after the ride to the station.
The body of Carrie Guevin 19 a waitress formerly of Montpelier was brought to Montpelier and buried in St. Augustine's cemetery after a suicide at her Albany boarding house. The death followed a quarrel with Aaron Matthias a married man who denied planning marriage and urged her to return home. Guevin had a troubled period since leaving Montpelier three years earlier and had worked in Boston Troy and Albany.
In Rutland and Barre, involuntary petitions have been filed against the More Hisnehi Granite Co. Barre. Creditors include Jorres Hob Male aged 2 and Poulin aged 22 from Montpelier.
George W. Baker and Dr E J Foster Eddy seek to intervene in the Mary Baker Eddy estate case. They contend the will allocation to the First Church of Christ Scientist Boston may violate state law restricting bequests to churches. If valid, Baker would inherit the residuary estate as next of kin.
A bold robbery at 62 Summer at Rest left Peter Morrion’s home missing two valuable winter coats. Snow tracks show the thief fled toward Main Street, possibly an inside job. Police investigation underway with suspects and motive under review.
