In New York on February 7 a large iron safe in the Halprin knitting mill office in Williamsburg was dynamited and looted of several thousand dollars. The blast shattered windows but went unheard at night. the crime was not discovered until the proprietor visited the office today. No suspects are named.
Nineteen men were hurt in an explosion of a gasoline barrel at Jamaica L I yards of the Rhode Island railroad. Five men died and several were thrown about one hundred yards by the blast as laborers tried to clear snow. The cause was not known.
Taunton Massachusetts February mayor William Woods demands the resignation of City Treasurer Rilard I Temple after a special audit found a discrepancy of about 85000 in warrants and abatements. Temple says no dishonesty occurred and refuses to quit. The auditor noted receipts from taxpayers holding receipts for overdue taxes.
Word from Hubbard Hastings notes a trip to the Riltmory forest school in Germany with plans to return after seven weeks. Students from the Bilt more school will travel to North Carolina for further training in forestry. In Albany on the eighteenth ballot there was no choice for the United States senator.
In Groton Mise Cora Benizie works at home amid village events. Mrs. Agnes Sinclair Aytreanes and others attended a teachers meeting at Bradford. Seven new church members were received at the Methodist service led by Rev. A. Smith. The village school closed Thursday and several residents travelled to Montpelier for work.
The Greek coal miners strike at Keystone, Utah, escalated into a riot yesterday and ended with an armed truce today. Authorities guard Independent Coal and Coke property as Sheriff Thomas Jackson was killed and Chris Randberg wounded. Several other miners were killed or wounded during dispersal. The unrest stemmed from a pay dispute with Greeks claiming unequal treatment versus Americans.
Chicago February 7 204000 collected for widows and orphans of the stock yard firemen who perished last November. The relief committee met to discuss a plan for distributing the money nineteen widows and thirty three orphans will receive aid from the fund.
Owen Kildare known as The Kipling of the Bowery dies at Ward's Island State Hospital for the Insane at age 47 after a career as a newsboy pugilist writer and playwright. His wife, later married to Lt Cmdr Charles A Adams USN retired, had visited him days before and news of the annulment had become public. Adams says Kildare knew and approved of her actions.
In El Paso Texas on February 7 revolutionary forces led by Paaqual Orozco defeated the eighteenth federal infantry near Florez ranch fifteen miles southeast of Juanes. Casualties include twenty soldiers and six women wounded at Juarez hospital. Reports claim Orozco was killed, though crowds say Hobage deserted rebels.
Reports say Orozco 15 miles from Tuaren at Hancheria, with insurgent forces and Mexican troops in tense standoff. Fighting near Hagelin, Juarez area yields five dead and 20 wounded. federal losses include three dead. Rebels report casualties, with insurgent units remaining on the field as rebels retreat.
In Albay N Yu February 7 Torey Thaw's appeal to regain freedom was denied by the court of appeals. The decision upholds a state hospital commitment at Matterwan and ends his last chance for release.

A 19 year old girl, Vena L Pine, daughter of Joseph Pine, died after a lamp exploded or was dropped while she carried it upstairs at 2080 o'clock in Murray Street, Burlington. Fire spread from burning oil but caused only light damage. parents are prostrated by the tragedy.
Gorham S. 11 Feb 7 The collision involved a freight flat, locomotive, and snow plough van on the Grand Trunk line. J W Shull of Gotham, roadmaster for Portland Island Pond division, was probably fatally injured as the van and plough were destroyed by fire.
Rutland schedules a five day county fair week starting Labor Day September 4 with a joint celebration for the town's 150th founding.
