New York December 16 Amelio Prince a famed Black Hand leader was shot and killed in a bakery shop after allegedly demanding $100 from owner Joseph Galluvei. Police say Prince had been under suspicion for four prior murders.

Professor Carston I. Stetson of German and literature at the University of Vermont died today at his home from catarrh of the stomach. Stephanie Papotta of Rutland is detained in New York on charges of assault with intent to kill for an incident on November 2 in which she allegedly shot at an Italian man named Cuiani after a dispute in a West Street house following a local theatre. The bullet wound was a flesh wound and the weapon’s barrel was recovered. Special Officer James Pitaniotte is arranging extradition.

William Wark of Barre, foreman polisher at the Marr & Gordon mill, was severely injured when a chain snapped while a heavy stone was being raised. William Emslie a letter cutter for Mare and Hordon was pinned by a falling stone while lettering a monument. He escaped serious injury though contusions were found on his right ankle and knee and was taken home to 25 Maple Avenue.
Charles Sharkey, a mail carrier, was thrown from a wagon during unloading at the federal building rear entrance after a horse spooked the team. He suffered injuries but is expected to recover. a psychiatrist noted no serious injuries. Sharkey, around 50, was taken home for further care, with a later report of improved condition.
