The famed pacer Star Pointer died at age 21 in the paddock at the Kentucky owner W. M. Williams operation. Bred by WH Pointer of Spring All Tenn his career included a two minute track era. He had been owned by several parties including J. A. in Chicago and D. Bos ton, with notable foals Sug Morning Star and Situs Pointer.

Light refreshments followed, with social time. the event announced the formation of new executive committees for the club and plans for future meetings throughout the school year.
Vice President E B Fitehugh of Central Vermont and Gray Trunk roads told the joint committee on tall roads that the railroad would build a new line from Windsor to Hartlandboro on the Vermont side of the Connecticut river, paralleling Boston and Maine tracks if a reasonable charter is granted. He said the idea followed Boston and Maine officials rejecting a proposal and noted Brattleboro terminals would be opposed by Boston and Maine, with no construction against its lines.
Funeral services for Myrtle L Morgen were conducted Tuesday at 2 pm from the Fortney street home with Rev. Downey of the Universalist church officiating. In Norfolk on December 1 a fire partially damaged the steamship Maryland of the New Philadelphia and Norfolk line. Five crew members of the naval tender Elfin drowned when it collided with submarine The Witty near Harwich England. The Elfin sank while the submarine sustained damage. Rescue operations and inquiries were initiated to determine causes and recover any missing crew.
