Gertrude McCarthy, president of the Incal garment workers union, died at 205 South Main Street after a year of illness and five weeks bedridden. Born January 28 in Barre, she was a Spaulding graduate and early Tauber Lipton employee. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at St Monica's Church. She is survived by her mother and four sisters.
The funeral of nine year old Rena Mary MacAuley daughter of Mr and Mrs John MacAuley of Websterville was held Sunday afternoon. The service at the Barre Episcopal church featured a church choir and was attended by relatives and friends. Burial followed at Wilson Cemetery with pallbearers and officiants including Daniel MacAuley, Reverend Joseph Sultor, and Edwin Rivas.
