In St Petersburg on December 12 a mass riot broke out as 40 000 people accompanied reservists from Saratov toward the war seat. Troops clashed with rioters, sparking a bloody confrontation that left two dead and about 248 injured amid student concern and chaos in the city.
Historic disturbances in Petersburg erupt as workers and students fill the streets to demand an end to war and a national assembly. Mounted police, swords drawn, clash with demonstrators before crowds disperse. dozens injured, many arrested, amid a tense response by authorities.

Two men linked to robbing the Peoria National Bank Saturday fled toward Toulon with 1880 dollars on hand. Edward O Hegan alias James Williams, once jailed in Chicago for robbery, was identified. Wilmington N Y Dec 11 John H Gore a lawyer of ex governor Roswell and brother in law John Brewer of Franklin Va about 18 years of age were drowned in Cape Fear River five miles below Wilmington last night while returning to a steam launch from a duck hunting expedition chronologized by a seiwall.
Ogdensburg December 11 reports the Rutland Transit line steamship Henry BR James was badly damaged by fire last night in Rutland harbor. The hull valued at 75 000 dollars, no insurance coverage. Damages will run high. cause unknown and crew safe.

Gari who Wax was arrested for an alleged act against a six year old in Fontana. He appeared before Judge Lathrop on Saturday afternoon. The court found evidence to bind the case over to the county term. Bail was set at $1,000. Charles Jy Scott and W. L. Laird of Barre formed the defense. Garibaldi and W. White represented the state.
