In Middlebury court, William Carrier of Weybridge was found guilty of adultery with Mrs. Minnie A. Rent of Rochester. Abram Houghton Hicks, a naval veteran of the Mexican and Civil wars, dropped dead at his Wheelock home yesterday after a brief illness. A brother Samuel Teeth of Chelsea is the sole surviving relative living.

Moses Thero, a two year resident and insection man at West Lebanon yard, was fatally injured when a belt loosened by an engine pulled him under the wheels. His head and shoulders were severed from the body. He leaves a wife and four children.
A 12 year old boy crawled from a rear Burrell block tunnel into a surface sewer, pushing a stick through the grate to signal rescuers after becoming blocked by ice in the Potash brook. Onlookers questioned him as he refused to name himself and ran away.
