John T Mulligan, 24, died instantly at the Trandon Marble plant in Middlebury Der. 10 after grabbing a live copper wire and contacting a marble bed switch. About 1,700 volts surged through his body when village and company wiring fuse lines failed, plunging the department into darkness.
Middighur December 10 The Addison meats court jury after a week’s session at 10:30 this morn found eight cases: six true bills and two no bills. One no bill involved Seth McAlvin charged with manslaughter for shooting Rollin F Forbes in Lincoln on October 21 mistaking him for a robber.
New York report says Frank Kellogg of St Paul fainted while speaking at the Minnesota Society of New York dinner. He was helped to an ante-room, revived, and later said he would be all right. Doctors attributed the faint to fatigue and indigestion after a long day. Kellogg had attacked certain Roosevelt administration policies before his collapse.
Bouton Dec 10 The three candidate mayoral race here attracts much interest as the state contest. Early reports indicate the heaviest vote ever cast in a city election. The three candidates were among the first to vote and efforts are strong to mobilize every possible voter to the polls.
Francis Harden For 1909 was unanimously elected captain of Harvard varsity football for next year. A popular senior, he previously played freshman baseball, rowed last spring, and holds leadership roles in 1776 D K E Sphinx Hasty Pudding clubs. He is 21, 5 foot 11, 195 pounds.
Dec 10 hearing on dissolution of injunction in the Union Pacific Central Montana stock case. Proceedings involve Stuyvesant and a 1,251 share stake, with Central railroad and Minolta connections noted.
Eleven teams survived the opening six days of a board-track pursuit. The field was led by Rederoe and Annberg with tight margins among seven teams within ten seconds of a mile lap. A crash involving Vanoni and Dwt halted the run but all entrants continued, with several riders suffering injuries yet remaining in the race.
In Pittsburg Pennsylvania a dispute in railroad yards led to a fatal shooting. Relés, a dice dealer, and three men including Gimite allegedly attacked Sunseri who was selling bananas. Sunseri was shot and another man Gimite was wounded. Police suspect Black Hand involvement after a letter demanding 600 and offering to spare Sunseri if paid. Two suspects arrested.
In St. Petersburg on December 10 General Pork and General Reiss faced charges of aiding the Japanese through a weak defense. They claim the fortress was ill equipped under-provisioned and poorly armed, arguing the blame lies with the ministry, amid a court martial expected to reveal a major imperial scandal.
The steamer President with Taft and wife aboard Plymouth Ma touched there early today and sailed westward. Taft was deeply affected by his mother's death and stayed in his stateroom, refusing visitors as the ship moved on.
Joseph Armstrong, Boston resident and manager of Christian Science publications, died at his Commonwealth Avenue home last night of pleurisy. He was a prominent practitioner and supporter of the faith.

New York December 10 The indictment for manslaughter in the second degree against Tray McCormick superintendent of the New York Central in connection with the Brewster Express wreck at Woodlawn last February was dismissed to permit McCormack to testify in the trial of Vice President Alfred H Smith on the same charge.

L N Hebert sold the Blacksmith Shop and tools to McDonald Brothers of Hardwick. Roy Eaton visited R M Hubbellis in Hartford. C W Jones moves to a new farm home at East Hill. Dr W M Jolkretens relocates to Morrisrilly after visiting Dr Rublee, and Mrs J D Martin travels to Lawrence Massachusetts due to her daughter's illness. Mrs A B Phillips travels to Hyde Park Massachusetts amid her aunt’s death.
The 34 th annual Vermont state Grange session opened in Darlington with about 300 members present at the Armory hall. Reports show seven Granges organized this year, total membership nearing 13,937. treasury healthy. Beneficiaries include the American Unitarian association Grinnell Reynolds fund 2000 Unitarian Sunday School society 1000 Unitarian Temperance society 500 Women’s Parish Association of First Parish Concord 500 Concord’s home for the aged 500 Perkins institution and Massachusetts school for the blind 1000 Hampton Virginia kindergarten department 500 a school for colored and Indian students Radcliffe college 1000 to be added to the Joanna Hoar scholarship fund.
Bennington reports the Gooper knitting factory, the town’s largest, with 50 workers, has resumed operations after a two week closure. The Bradford Knitting company plans to start up after repairs, and Bottom & Torrance collar plant also reopens. Together the firms employ about 500 workers.
In Christiana Norway on December 10 a Nobel Prize has been divided between Ernesto Moret of Italy and Louie Renoult of France. The division follows a long vote process with both nations represented.

Yesterday afternoon a stove ignited in a block Henry erected. Blake and others tried to douse the flames as a nearby five gallon can of ganolinn exploded, burning Blake's clothing. Severe burns and smoke inhalation followed. Blake leapt into the canal, was swept downstream and rescued with difficulty.
In Rutland on December 10, Rev Francia Crociata denounced statements by three Catholic pastors who urged congregations to withhold funds for the Italian church project. He accused rival clergy of jealousy over Rev William Lonergan’s $80,000 church plan and said the bazaar will proceed under bishop authorization. The Italian parish, now 860 residents in 135 families, built the foundation in the fall and will finish the fundraising in spring with parishioners contributing labor as well as money.

At John Blake’s farm in Newport a rifle incident killed Ernest Blake and wounded another man. Witnesses say John MMi Dreth fired accidentally while men from ZS Dike & Co were handling cattle hides. Investigations proceed with no blame attributed to Dreth.
A set of divorce petitions were granted including Jennie C Hall versus Ward L Hall and Elizabeth Pelton versus Jarry Pelton. Intolerable desertion and severity cases, and custody disputes were noted. A naturalization hearing was scheduled and the term closed with a brief jury trial period and early discharge.
William Lawson Huntington died at his Washington street home this noon after a long illness. Born in Washington, he was 76 on November 30 and lived in Barre for 44 years. He leaves a widow, three daughters, three sons, a brother in Washington, and a long record as a restaurant operator, hearse driver, and Flinwood Cemetery sexton. Funeral arrangements not yet completed.
Two Spaniards rode a carriage that broke onto a bank near McDonald and Buchan’s stone shed on South Main Street. The horse swerved toward the sidewalk and struck the railing, which held firm and prevented a plunge. The occupants were unharmed and the horse sustained only scratches before being taken to Pago's stable for minor injuries.
The Windsor Brownsville area reports a burglary at the George A. Swallow store Sunday night. Watches and cigars stolen after burglars entered through a large front window. no suspects or motives identified. Police investigation ongoing with limited details.
Milton December 10 court adjourned with no action on State vs Elmer Bean and Harold Cranwell. A man described as a hunter fled from the woods and collapsed near Calvin Manley’s car. The deceased buck lay in the road then slid into the bushes after the driver’s return to the spot.
In Manchester a motion to appoint Mrs Rita Grenda as a tutor at the training school faced opposition. Critics argued she is married and reportedly contemplating divorce, while supporters note her teaching work and church ties. Father David Grendell confirms a two year marriage and recent return to town.
In city court yesterday a raid case hearing began with Hertha Perry named as liquor keeper. Witnesses testified that alcohol was present, while Fred Cheney admitted drinking there and seeing others drink from a bottle. A warrant was issued for Cheney and he posted $400 bail to return Friday morning for trial.
In November the city recorded 24 births and 11 deaths, births outnumbering deaths by more than two to one. Among births were 16 males and 12 females, with 13 native and 8 foreign born mothers. Deaths stemmed from heart disease, pneumonia, phthisis, aortic stenosis, bronchitis, malnutrition, meningitis, and pulmonary tuberculosis. one still birth occurred. Burial permits: Elmwood 3, Hope 4, Catholic 2. two transit passes. Six cow disease cases were reported to Health Officer Dr. M D Lamb, including whooping cough 4, diphtheria 1, measles 1. no deaths from these illnesses.
James Gauld of the Lowden and Lyon store lost a gold watch when a fob snagged on rubbish tossed from a back platform into a river. He dove in with boots and a lantern, waded through icy water, and recovered the timepiece, insisting the water was not cold nor wet.

At an especial meeting the city council made notable progress revising ordinances. Most satisfaction focused on building and construction rules, but those sections were left to draft later. The main revision spans 23 chapters with about 11 more to consider.

The district No. 5 I O F held a lively meeting with Minnehaha No. 2 at the Barre lodge. Over 200 members were present with many more expected. remarks by leaders and a fire station visit followed a routine program.
High single was 292. Heavyweights outplayed Ex-Crescents with Burrell leading three strings of the evening. Ex-Crescents’ top string reached 232 and a high total of 043. Final team total 2646 each as Burrell and team members posted strong scores. prizes announced for high totals and individual strings last week.
The Ladies' union of the Universalist church held a penny contest last night, split roughly evenly between Ellin Moore Craft’s side and the opposing faction. Receipts totaled $7.75 from about eighty participants, each contributing ten cents. The group has run the event for nearly a month and invites all members and workers to the annual supper on Thursday evening, December 12.
