Mr and Mrs George N Tilden returned from a ten day New York tour, guests of Mrs Blanche Hornd Merbert Main of Sherbrooke, with Mr and Mrs William Dubs hosting at South Main Street. William Dubs’ Chevrolet incident noted amid report of a tow. Dean Pero of North Main left for Burlington for US Army infantry exam. wishes to bid farewell to Barre friends. A group of Barre barbers had a picnic at Goshen Pond with seven barbers and five friends, including a chicken barbecue. Florence Cuthbertson’s surprise birthday at West Street with about 20 friends and a party featuring music and dancing at Hotel Barre. The celebration included refreshments, flowers and gifts. festivities continued with singing and dancing into the evening.
Delegates arrived in Barre for the second annual Vermont American Legion convention. The Barre opera house will host a public meeting with Frank P. Sibley of the Boston Ginke as principal speaker, recounting service with the 26th division. John M. Thomas of Middlebury leads the Vermont branch as commander.

A Massey man was found unconscious in the Barre Montpelier road near the Martin place Sunday evening. An initial examination at Heaton hospital in Montpelier showed no broken bones, with witnesses suggesting a dark impact or vehicle involvement after an overpass incident and a pursuit by a cousin Ficlleher.
